I have a query: Does the 300 applicant quota include people who have arranged employment in Canada also? I mean people who are working there already, just haven't got their PR. Will they be given any preference? Then I guess, we don't stand any chance at all!! :(

Amit I'm afraid not. You better go ahead and try to get the original birth certificate or talk to the authority to re-issue the same. Browse in the CIC website to see the format of the birth certificate (if there's any), but I guess it must contain your name, parents name, date, place etc.
