Agreed. Most people would rent out their house/houses if they decide not to sell initially. The mortgage should be easy to pay from Canada with the benefit of online banking and standing orders.

Re: Settlement of Funds ... It would be odd if they consider mortgage while looking at liabilities but not take into account equity as part assets. That would mean most of us with mortgages would have minus assets even with big savings.
