    I'm also August 2, 2016 applicant. Talked to MP office twice. Called CIC several times. All say you have to wait, security is in progress. I've been in Canada for six years. Studied and now working.

    I applied on Dec 5th, and my application was approved today. I was eligible to get 3-year permit, but due to passport expiry date in July 2017, my permit will expire by the end of July 2017. I assume I have to apply to extend my work permit next year.

    Hope you receive your permit soon. Where on the CIC website did you see Dec 9th applications are being processed? The only information regarding processing time is a general three-month for all work permits.
