Once you get to Canada, you find a good lawyer and tell them your story...but be prepared in case you get to Canada in case you have to give it at the airport...
If you do it at the airport, you will be rushed, stressed under the pressures of your CBSA officer. It's also faster to get your brown paper and get case referred to the IRB. So if you can, do it online and can get a lawyer to help you.
If you move to Ontario after submitting for asylum, it would then be moved to Ontario. I am not 100% sure but I think Edmonton or Calgary is easier for work too.
Hi , I think you can apply anywhere in the western provinces and get a hearing within about a year or so. I recommend Alberta as rent is cheaper and if you need a shelter, you can get one either in Calgary or Edmonton Alberta.
Hi, did you get any correspondence advising it is short or normal or complex hearing? The reason I ask is time line is almost same as yours and in Ontario. I have got nothing so far.
I know someone that got submitted and got brown paper last October and just had a successful hearing yesterday. While it depends on the countries and the nature of the persecution, western provinces have less people and are faster.
Hi,
I am not sure but if you go to a shelter and submit online instead of airport, it maybe 1 month at most. I know a few people who got hearings in less than a year.
Thanks
