If you want to continue working you have to apply for Bridging Open Work Permit. That's my understanding. Look it up on CIC.

Get a bridging open work permit, it will allow you not to stop working for your employer before you PR status comes through.

Eligiblity will be determined based on the status of the principal applicant (PA). If the PA has a valid permit that is expiring within 4 months, and has the AOR for a CEC application, the PA is eligible for the open work permit. A spouse would be eligible as a spouse.

You can actually apply for the bridging open work permit a bit closer to your expiry date. Your PR is likely to come through before your work permit expires. :)
