I am main applicant and got BC PNP under Health Authority Stream. Now I am applying for NON-EE PR application.
My wife currently is in India, has visitor visa and just went last month. She will be coming again as visitor.
I have following questions:
1. Will there be any problem if I apply in July and she will come in August here in Canada?
2. Can she get any kind of permit here after arrival?

Will there be any problem if I apply in July and she comes to Canada in August as a visitor?
No, there is no problem.
You can absolutely apply for PR in July 2025, and your wife can enter later in August as a visitor, as long as:
  • She has a valid Temporary Resident Visa (TRV).
  • You include her as a dependent (spouse) in your PR application at the time of submission.
  • Her intention to return temporarily (as a visitor) is clear to the border officer at entry. She must not claim she is coming to “stay permanently” unless her PR is approved. It’s common for spouses to travel while PR is processing, and it doesn’t negatively impact the PR file
2. Can she get any kind of permit here after arrival?
This depends on her situation and eligibility, but here are possible options:
A. Open Work Permit (SOWP) – Only After You Get AIP (PR Stage 1 Approval)
Once your PR application gets AIP (Approval in Principle), your wife may become eligible to apply inland for a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP).
  • Eligibility: You must have AIP and live together in Canada.
  • Application Type: Inland spousal open work permit.
  • Processing Time: Usually 2–4 months.
If you apply in July 2025, AIP may come by late 2025 or early 2026, depending on IRCC’s speed.

B. Visitor Extension
If she’s not yet eligible for a work permit, she can:
  • Stay in Canada as a visitor (up to 6 months).
  • Later apply to extend her stay online before expiry.

C. Study Permit (If She Wants to Study)
If she chooses to enroll in a designated learning institution (DLI), she may apply for a study permit from within Canada.
But this requires admission, proof of funds, and other criteria.

Hi, I've applied my application is July 24,2024 and got final decision in May. I am trying to check my application status through

On-Line Services Clients Application Status. Does anyone having the same problems with me? it kept saying wrong information.

Hi @Miss bee I applied for restoration + open work permit while my PR (applied sep 24) is still being processed but I called IRCC today and they told me I need to wait for the PR eligibility to be completed before I get the WP? I am getting mixed responses and since my nomination already expired what should I expect?

Thanks

Hey @Miss bee i have a doubt. My spouse (dependent) received ADR travel info but the form states that it should be filled by the principal applicant. What am i supposed to do?

P.S- I submitted the same ADR under my name yesterday.

hi @Miss bee, I hope you are doing well not being bombarded with too many questions :)

What do you think - can GCMS note affect PNP processing time? Looks like my application stuck at one of the last stages, and no updates (including ghost) for last month.
I'm thinking about to request GCMS to check was my Security Check started or not. I have representative, so can't check detailed status - only see Background check is in progress, Eligbility not started on tracker, by by phone they said that Eligibility is done, but Security not started.
I read different opinions that GCMS can delay process, or sometimes it "might comes to a benefit that the file is cleaned from dust".
So what do you think - can it delay application?

Thank you!

No, requesting GCMS notes does not delay your application.

Why GCMS Does Not Delay Application
  • Passive request: GCMS notes are simply a copy of your existing file pulled from the IRCC system. The team that processes these requests is different from the one handling your PR application.
  • IRCC has confirmed multiple times that requesting GCMS does not negatively affect application timelines or priority.
  • Widely used tool: Many applicants request GCMS notes as a standard part of tracking progress after a few months of no updates—especially when security hasn’t started.
Your Case – What’s Likely Happening
You’re seeing:
  • Tracker says: Background in progress, Eligibility not started
  • Phone agent says: Eligibility done, Security not started
  • No ghost updates for 1+ month
This kind of discrepancy is very normal because:
  • The tracker is often inaccurate or delayed in reflecting internal updates (especially for paper-based/non-Express Entry PNP).
  • Eligibility, once passed, is sometimes not updated on the tracker, even though it’s done internally.
  • Security checks are done by CBSA/CSIS, and IRCC has limited visibility. Once started, they’re invisible until completed (even in GCMS).

Why GCMS Could
Help (Indirectly)
  • Sometimes, officers re-open the file when GCMS is requested (this is rare but does happen in “dormant” cases).
  • You’ll get clear confirmation if Eligibility is passed, Criminality is done, and Security is started or not.
  • Can help identify if the file is stuck for some reason (e.g. waiting for additional internal review or documents).
When to Request GCMS?
Given your timeline and last update being over a month ago, and if Security hasn’t started:
Yes, it’s a good time to request GCMS notes. It usually takes about 30 days to arrive, and it won’t impact processing.

Note: Since you have a representative, they (or you, with their withdrawal) must submit the request. Alternatively, you can go through a third-party GCMS service.

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you're all doing well :) Can any of you kindly share the tracker for Dec 2024 applications?

Many thanks.
