Hello, I would appreciate some advice. I landed as PR for the first time in Canada in April 2022. However, I haven't lived in Canada for the last three years because I was doing PhD and working in the US. I permanently moved to Canada on the 17th of March 2025, which would give me 2 years and 40 days out of 5 years. Can I still maintain my PR status if I leave the country for more than 40 days? Also, I didn't get the PR card for the first two years; I got it in August 2024, and the validity of the card is August 2029, whereas the landing date is mentioned as April 2022.

The residency obligation is counted from the day of landing and not the date on your PR card. Based on the information you have provided, you will be out of compliance with the residency obligation if you leave the country for more than 40 days.
