IRCC new portal vs old portal

Hi Guys,

I am trying to apply online for my sister's VISA from Canada. She is in India.

I was wondering if using IRCC new portal is good or should i use the old portal and list myself as representative?

I mean what is a difference?

I am confused because the old portal is not asking for any proof of relationship documents or invitation letter. I mean very less documentation, only proof of fund and passport. do you think if I apply through old portal will there be a chance of rejection?

And, which is faster in your opinion? new or old.

Please help me taking a decision here about which one to use.

ou can use the new IRCC portal, but if you have many supporting documents (like an invitation letter, proof of relationship, proof of ties to home country, etc.), then it’s better to use the old portal, because it allows you to upload everything in the "Client Information" section.


In the invitation letter, make sure to mention:

• Your sister will stay at your house in Canada
• You will cover her expenses during the visit
• Most importantly, explain clearly why she will return to India after the visit (job, family, property, studies, etc.)

These points are very important to show that she is a genuine visitor and has strong reasons to return home.
