Yeah I wasn't expecting to need one, but they requested one from me -- passed my medical with 0 problems but that defs caught me off-guard when I went. Could be something per clinic, like maybe some clinics request it but others don't? idk. lol

Hi @SkyEarth thanks for sharing. Your posts have been insightful for me. I applied for inland spousal sponsorship (Quebec Dec 2023) wanted to know if you have any updates? I am also just waiting for P1 as all other stages are passed apart from background checks which is in progress.

I am glad that my posts have been able to provide some insight! That's really great to hear! <3

No updates for me personally, but I did see someone who applied May 9, 2023 got their P1 on March 3, 2025 and their P2/ECOPR March 5, 2025. So I'm estimating that my P1 may arrive sometime between August and September 2025 if the current trends remain, which would put my PR Card arriving in October -- Though, of course, I keep hoping I'll get it sooner lol.

Did you ever request GCMS notes?

No. I mean, I suppose I could, but I'm pretty sure there's no need for that at this stage. When I submitted my application the processing time for Spousal Sponsorship Inland (Quebec) was estimated at 24 months. My application has been in progress for 17 months so far. So there's a lot of time still expected for waiting, and I don't think a GCMS note request pushes applications any closer to final decision.

Just curious as to why your application seems to be ‘on hold’ and there is no progress. I am part of another discussion for July applicants, and we basically all have the same timeline, regardless of inside/outside Québec. We have all passed every stage and are on BGC, and Québec’s involvement in my file has been done for a while since receiving CSQ. It actually didn’t cause any delays up to now when I compare my timeline to others. Not sure what would cause an additional delay at this point. And MIFI did confirm that they have not yet reached the quota for the 2-year period (until June 2026), I just don’t understand why applications from inside Québec would not be following the same timeline as others at the last stage (assuming there are no specific delays due to personal circumstances).

That is the big question from every Quebec Spousal PR applicant ever lol

Just like you, my application timeline went much the same way as others who applied at the same time as me in other provinces up until the medical. IRCC processes them very efficiently. The issue is Quebec bottlenecking the amount of incoming approved immigrants with an arbitrary limitation for the province. And I call it arbitrary because say someone applied in Ontario and got approved and received their PR Card -- that person can then move into the province of Quebec, no delay. Yet the people in Quebec are held to a different standard, and therefore wait longer -- it's ludicrous. Quebec only allows about 10,000 PR approvals per year in the Spouse category because it's the only category they can't regulate. They don't want the system overrun by non-Francophones, by workers with no valuable skills, or by people outside of a working age range -- all of whom would have difficulty immigrating to the province in any other category, but can't be prohibited from the Spousal stream for ethical reasons.

It sends an unfortunate messaging that Quebec doesn't support their residents finding love outside of the province, let alone the country.

And on our end, there's just nothing to do but wait at the finish line until our number is called-- and hope it happens before the 2026 cap is reached on PR approvals.

Yeah, it’s absolutely crazy. I’ve lived in Québec my whole life, and things always have to be more complicated here, I don’t get it. As for the 2026 cap, MIFI told me that it is ‘calculated’ at the CSQ request stage. So if the cap is reached, MIFI will not even accept your CSQ application and will tell you to reapply after June 2026. So, this means that we should be in the clear because we have our CSQ. Now, let’s just hope that the information provided was correct, we never with these agents lol

Hi Everyone,

For me it looks like this, Nothing since December 18, the only thing left seems to be the background verification, which has been in progress for about a year or so. Anyone else with a similar situation ?

Thanks for sharing your timeline! My situation is the same (17 months in progress-- applied Nov 2023), and I think most Quebec applications are in the same boat. My most recent update was passing Medical in June 2024, so all but Background Check is complete since then. Since you applied in August 2023, you should get a final decision long before me ^^ I've seen May 2023 applicants have reached the Final Decision stage. I would speculate that IRCC is probably doing Final Decisions for July 2023 applicants now.
