Hi everyone!

Everyone here has been so helpful and thank you for all of the support.
My partner and I have submitted the Spousal Sponsorship Application for Inland!

I now (US citizen) - am making sure that I am doing the right thing, am looking to extend my visitor record since it expires in May 2025 (I've had two extensions already prior with no issues).

Since the application is in the system now and pending (Submitted TODAY March 16) - Would this be as simple as doing the application to extend and just mention in a Support Letter that the application is in the system and we are awaiting our inland sponsorship? Would it be worth mentioning we are looking to extend due to the time it takes for the application and that currently it's 24 months of an estimate for processing time?

Any help on how to word it would be fantastic. Thank again!

I would personally hold off applying and wait for AOR. Hopefully you get AOR by end of April. You can then apply for an OWP and that will give you implied and then a work permit once the OWP is approved. This is the best way to keep yourself in status while waiting.

That's not a bad idea, however, the AOR right now I believe people have been saying that it's been taking 2-4 months to receive it, which is what I'm worried about and ALSO the current wait time for extending inland is now 119 days. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I was in kind of a similar situation when I applied. I only had a month and a few weeks left in my visitor permit so waiting for the AOR to apply for an OWP wasn't an option but what @scylla suggested would've been ideal.

I'm not sure if it'll be any different for you but when I applied for an extension of my permit I mentioned that the processing time was around two years at the time and they only extended it for a year. Still, no harm in mentioning it, I'm sure :)

I don't think you should worry too much about the wording as long as you're formal and it's clear that you have both applied for PR. I don't remember writing anything too long. I included proof of having paid for the application and some other things I don't really remember right now. Not sure if that was even necessary.

Oh thats a great point! So since my partner is a Canadian Citizen, I have the proof of support from him and I can absolutely input proof of my receipt and if I don't get the AOR in time, I can at lease give my “you have submitted the application” confirmation email and show proof of funds.

It looks like waiting a bit here is the call.

Waiting and waiting and waiting is what this is all about! Hahaha.

I think that applying for an extension of your visitor permit is a good idea but other more knowledgeable people than me in the forum could prove me wrong. I can only say that I was in a pretty similar situation to yours and it worked out just fine for me. But yeah, make sure that other people double check that what I'm saying is correct, please.

Good luck and lots of patience to you :)

Given you have already received 2 extensions it would be best to wait and see if you hopefully get AOR before applying for another visitor record.
