Can Lupus cause PR refusal? anyone one had experinced this?

Hi all,

My husband plans to apply for express entry. he has all the required documents but the issue is that I (his wife) was diagnosed with Lupus and Celiac disease. The question is can Lupus lead to inadmissibility and ended up with refusing our application. Is there anyone who went through the same case to share us his experience with overcoming health inadmissibility, with an autoimmune disease in particular?

Yes lupus can result in medical inadmissibility. Most autoimmune diseases can result in PR refusals because they are often expensive to treat.

Everyone asks and wants answers but noone puts their outcome. I am in a similar situation. I wish someone had put answers.

My guess is that usually when folks are successful then they happily share their success stories. While it does happen, folks saying that they failed or gave up is less common generally...

The other aspect is that if one lawyers up, as would be quite reasonable for tough cases like this, typically the first thing the lawyer says is to not broadcast to the whole world your side of the case (though there are exceptions, see below).

You could also try searching CanLii to see if you can find a case there were someone challenged a PR refusal of Lupus successfully, (e.g. this is one case for dialysis https://www.canlii.org/en/ca/fca/doc/2002/2002fca271/2002fca271.html?searchUrlHash=AAAAAQAIZGlhbHlzaXMAAAAAAQ&resultIndex=3 ) but with a brief search I couldn't find any results pertaining to Lupus specifically.

I have been searching online as my process is still going on... I have come across people confirming that lupus (in remission) has not been an hindrance in getting PR. Though they ask for Medicals. So waiting for IRCC responses.
