One thing I noticed that once we get the update on Biometric, and if application is not complicated one then the approval comes in less than 5 working days.

Any timeline updates? I noticed today that processing times for work permits went down to 125 days. My application is at 127 days, so I hope I get something soon.

I have 2 quick questions when filling the questionaire to apply for a work permit:

Q1 for this question:

Are you
A) a spouse, common-law partner or dependent child of a foreign worker who holds a valid work permit or is approved for a work permit. Not all family members of workers are eligible. Check if you are eligible to apply for an open work permit;
B) a person who holds a temporary resident permit that is valid for 6 months or more;
C) a person who applied for permanent residence to an office in-Canada and was determined to be eligible for permanent resident status (first stage approval); or
D) a person who applied for permanent residence in a program under Express Entry and is applying for a bridging open work permit
It seems for [C], I should choose YES, cuz I submitted my PR application last year, and it passed medical/biometric/eligibility, and now the background check is in process. the program is Express Entry (Provicial Nomination Program), however my nomination has employment restriction, so I can not apply for BOWP, and I am eligible for a T13 closed work permit.

I am living in canada, and submitted the PR application online, and received AOR, should I answer this question (matches option [C]) as YES?
However, if answer YES, it will direct me to "Open work permit" (need to pay open work permit fee), and i get no entry to upload my nomination letter and work support letter?

May I know what should I do for this?

Q2 Also I am a provicial nomination letter and work support letter, I am a provincial nominee holder or I am applying for employer specific work permit LMIA exempt --- should I choose I am a provincial nominee holder?

thanks a lot ! @Miss bee

I chose "Provincial nominee certificate holder" as that's the most accurate, the LMIA-exempt option suits for public policy pathway as it provides different checklist.

Q1) Is the following option valid? B) a person who holds a temporary resident permit valid for six months or more.
  • Note: My understanding is that this questionnaire aims to identify the correct forms only. At the end, you'll be presented with the option to apply for a work permit extension. Select that option and compare the resulting document checklist.
Q2) Select one of the following: I am applying for an employer-specific work permit that is LMIA-exempt.

Most importantly, you will need valid status in Canada, compliance fees paid by your employer. WP support letter. Nomination Certificate number. Job Offer number(A******)

I am currently on an open work permit, and I received my PNP last year through OINP - Employer Job Offer (International Student Stream). My PGWP is set to expire in December 2025, and my PR application is still under process. Will I be able to extend my work permit? The work permit support letter I received last year when I got my PNP has expired, as it was only valid for 6 months. I'm unsure how to proceed with extending my work permit if my PR approval doesn't come through by December.

Can someone help??

Contact your province and get a new work permit support letter.

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to start this thread to track the timelines for Work Permit Extension applications submitted with a Provincial Support Letter. If you’ve already received approval, please do share your timeline to help others in the group.

Current Status: PGWP Expired November 2024
Stream: OINP
WP-Extension Applied On: October 1, 2024
Hi, could you advice the process of getting the support letter from OINP and how to apply for an extension in IRCC with the same. Do i need to fill any specific checkboxes in IRCC form since i am on an Open PGWP and i will be applying for a closed work permit extension. Please could you guide me.
