I meant March 21 to April 10 So don’t know why they pushed the date so far ! And yes BC is completed
That's weird. They didn't give you 30 days for the testing window. You're supposed to get 30 days.
Also no idea why they pushed it out so far either.

I am in Collège and finishing school in end of April. I gave my citizenship test today and passed. My BG updated to green on 13th Feb ; LPP is in progress. After getting citizenship I am planning to apply for jobs in US as I have talked to few employers. I have applied for 150 Jobs in Canada as I wanted to stay here but have got zero calls so far from past 4 months. The US employer is asking me a timeline; I guess on pessimistic case it could take another 3 months to get the passport or best case scenario it could be 2 months. Are my assumptions fair ? I am planning to quote 3 months to the US employer, but I am sure they will ghost me with this long date. :(

At least 3 months because you're not done with school until April anyway. The prospective US employer should know you're in college and that you need a few weeks after graduating to relocate. So 90 days isn't unrealistic of a timeline. Otherwise, the employer has no business recruiting students in their final year of school.

On a separate note, the Canadian job market is pretty bad at the moment and jobs are highly competitive. There are more applicants than job openings. I'm not sure if the US is any better, but I could be wrong.

I think it says a lot about the prospective employer. Most software employers in the US have an immigration department or attorneys that can give them this information. Furthermore, it shows the maturity of the company. The information is easily available on Google. I'd say if they wait good, and if not, just move on.

Thanks, yes the Canadian Market is not going well plus you need very strong network or someone to vouch for you in Companies. In US they moreover look your resume and are open to interview you at least.

I have some work experience, so I was able to get some calls from US and ZERO calls from within Canada.
I will provide 3 months timeline and hope for the best. If it goes beyond 3 months or who knows.

You will get the job you're meant to get. Sounds silly to say that but everything happens for a reason. Do the best you can and don't sweat the small stuff.

Apologies for butting in. Given you ignored my previous comment, here's some unsolicited advice.

From personal experience, I don't agree with your comparison of US and Canadian employers. Both look at resume. Given you have some work experience, making blanket statements is a sure shot way to rake negative marks during interviews.

Not sure the industry you are in. But software is pretty stagnant right now because of the layoffs and other reasons.
The US has more software companies that body shop. If you fit the generic-body-shop-able-software-engineer, it's likely you'd get a call from them.

I'd advise to:
1. Run your resume by someone who shortlists resume at their employment. Try to get in as many roles as possible to look at your resume: Recruiter, Tech lead, and manager. All three look at resume very differently.
2. AI filters resume these days. Make your resume is AI friendly. Grammatical mistakes can cost you a LOT.
3. Search for jobs on LinkedIn. Don't apply via linkedin but head over to careers section on the employer's website to apply.

Getting a job depends on a lot of factors and the applicant has little control over only some of them. Wish you the best!

For those who find this post down the road, all the best!

I see a lot of folks got test notifications. Does anyone know if PP and BG verifications happen before sending test invites? Does it say "in-progress" till some one looks at the test results and updates all other statuses? Any insights?

So typically BG will be complete first and then invites for the test are sent out. However, in the tracker it would seem like the test invite was sent out first. Anyway, point is, if BG is marked complete around the same time the test invite is sent out, then fingerprints are not usually requested.
Once the applicant takes and passes the test, it takes about a week (on average) for the officer to review and formally mark the test as complete. the tracker then updates the test section to complete.
Then the LPP comes next and that takes on average about a month after the test has been marked complete. usually LPP is marked as complete at the same time. After this, it could take anywhere from a few weeks to a month for oath info to be sent out and updated in the tracker.
Note that my responses are based on what has been reported by a majority of applicants and the data the moderators have shared from the tracking spreadsheet.

Thanks. Makes sense. Out of the LPP - I know 'Prohibitions' should be the time consuming one as it depends upon the CSIS clearance report. Do you think in addition to BG they also check Language and Physical Presence before sending the test invite?

Or is the entire LPP literally checked and cleared at the same time together after the test is complete? Any thoughts?

Thanks for the replies ,

Their website is so complicated .. couldn't even get a contact number but i finally managed to find the email : https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1566&top=5
Also the answers aren't similar on their pages .. on the help center page , it says that i need to wait until the passing day (21 February ) . And then if not , i can send an email
But on the tracker , it says 6 days before passing day '-'
Go with what is on the tracker and contact IRCC if you still don't get the email 6 days before your start day.

I think everything is sent out at the beginning when they receive our application. Besides CSIS running the security check, IRCC gets info from CRA regarding our taxes paid, and entry/exit data from CBSA. They will also validate the language proficiency proof we have sent in. So I say LPP takes time to get the data in and reviewed. I don't think they are completed before we get the test invite...only the background check as that's a quick return from RCMP. For example, I had to do a RCMP background check for work and my results were back in 1 day.
And yes, typically LPP is reviewed and marked complete at the same time.
Hope what I said makes sense.

Absolutely, and I think you are right. Makes perfect sense looking at last 6 months tracker data and applications.
