PGWP Refusal - What to do next

Are you eligible to reapply for PGWP? Reconsideration? You can only be part-time your last semester and if field placement was last semester then not eligible.

Get a good lawyer but you are without status in Canada so need to restore to visitor or student (if that is even possible).
I was full time all through my studies. The two courses I failed were retaken after my studies because the school only offers the courses in January.

I have been on google looking for how to apply for restoration but I don’t seem to find any information. Also I’m confused on what step to take next:

A. Apply for restoration
B. Raise webform for reconsideration
C. Apply for reconsideration/ reapply for PGWP.

Is the above correct pls ? I am already working on getting supporting documents from my school.

The restore status wordings is common in ALL refusal. It doesn't mean that you actually can restore back to a student or visitor status.

It's similar to visitor visa refusal, the refusal always said that you can apply again. It doesn't mean that you will get approval in the next application.
Thanks for your input , do you know what step I can take at this moment ? Do I just have to raise a webform for reconsideration straight up ?

Hello , I’m actually in same situation with your sister right now .. I have part time after my study completion to take two of my failed courses. Then I took my field placement which was considered full time.
I was told in the rejection letter to apply for restoration. I’m confused and in a really bad place at the moment.

Can you please put me through on how you went about your restoration. I’ll appreciate any support at this trying time . Thank you and wish you luck as well
We applied for reconsideration via web form and it was still refused.
My sister had to do celpip, after she got her results we applied for a post graduate work permit. On the form there was a portion that said restore your status as a worker and apply for a new work permit. Total fees was almost $500. We got a letter of explanation from her school explaining why she has per time courses because it was her final semester, she also attached her letter of explanation to her application. We are still waiting on IRCC's decision. Hope this helps you.

Hello Clemency , how have you been ? Did you get any update on the reapplication yet ? Also I’d like to know how long the reconsideration took during your time. Best of luck !

Hi everyone,
I need your suggestion.
My cousin completed 60 credits of his program those were required for the completion of the course. However after completing those credits his GPA was below 2.0 and college didnot give him a graduating letter because college said he needed a minimum gpa of 2.0. So he took one more course to make his gpa higher. But after finishing his course his gpa was still below 2.0, so he took 2 more courses in one semester and then another 2 in his final semester. Finally he graduated but all this makes him part time in 3 semesters.
He applied for work permit on 1 August 2024 but his pgwp got refused on 8 April 2025. He is considering to reapply.
Please provide your suggestion on how he should proceed.
Thankyou

So he is not eligible for a PGWP as you can only be part time the last semester. He is now out of status and cannot work. Also he cannot apply for a PGWP because he finished his studies more than 6 months ago nor can he restore status. He should make plans to leave but get a good immigration lawyer.

He was part time in more than one semester so based on this he was correctly refunded. At this point it would probably be best to hire an immigration lawyer to help you.

Again, based the the rules, he doesn't qualify.

So sorry your cousin is going through this , I know how it feels .. please try to restore your status and reapply , but you’ll need to seek the help of a very good immigration lawyer at this point , the best of them I know are based in Winnipeg/manitoba. Just try to be really proactive at this time. I seriously believe that nothing is impossible for God to do , so I wish your cousin best of luck.

It'll probably be too late for most people who will read this thread in future but the solution to this is enrolling in extra courses (not required as part of program but offered by school). You keep your status full time no matter what it costs.
I though that's common sense that if one needs to be full time and only needs to take 1 or 2 course(s) in their non-final term, they will take more courses to stay as full time.
