Super visa extension

HI ,My mother received a super visa valid till 2028 .She travelled to Canada in 2024 and at the airport her passport was stamped with an exit date of July 2025 which is just 10 months from the date of landing .Can she apply to extend the date of stay until the expiry of the super visa while she is in Canada or will she have to exit and re enter to get the exit date extended.
If I she can apply for an extension how and were she can do this? Thank you all in advance .

No need to do biometrics again but may be asked to do another medical. The supervisa is only a visitor visa to allow you to board a plane to Canada it does not guarantee any length of visit. Make sure to attach proof of 1 year of supervisa insurance to the visitor record application.

My parents are in a similar situation. They're super visa is until 2028 but they got stamped until April 2025. They entered in April 2024 but we went to the US for a week and while coming back the border agent stamped their passport until April 2025 saying their health insurance expires in April. Why would I buy more than a years insurance at a time? Anyway, is it better to go to the US for a week and come back or to apply for a visitor record?

When entering Canada on a supervisa you are required to show a year of supervisa insurance. Always risky to leave and attempt to return. Apply for a visitor record with proof of 1 year of insurance and see what happens. Supervisa visit length is up to 5 years not a guaranteed 5 years.

Yeah that's what I should have done. I have bought another year of their insurance now until April 2026. Instead of applying for Visitor record, do you think it will be a problem if we go to the US and come back?

There is always a risk when you leave Canada and attempt to return as a visitor.
