Not necessarily. Me and my friend applied exactly on same day for our parents in 2022. Her application was processed within 6 months and my mom's application just got final PR stamping. It depends on reasons we don't know what.

You are lucky. When I contacted my local MP office they just came back saying "your application is in regular processing time." Its been 22 months since I submitted :(

I have also been waiting with no response from Ottawa office for a while now. So I decided to get help through my MP office and they came back stating that my mother's application will take "27 months" to process. Background check is in progress. My mom was govt teacher. May be because of that...

Nope. I have called IRCC to confirm they have it. Nothing shows online as well. Now my mom has gone back to India, so probably that PCC is not valid anymore. Frustrated!

I had received this request last yr. I submitted only the old Indian passport as I have nothing else. Then I received my sponsor approval.
