yes i dont want to make a lost passport as they know my previous passport is with CBSA but is this a positive sign or negative IRCC OFFICER asked for valid passport copy or is this negative

my lawyer got an email officer asked for my valid passport photocopies. what is this stage second thing is as i have no status here in canada my expired passport is with CBSA and as per embassy requirements i cannot apply for new one untill i provide the previous original expired passport...
