That's I understand for students claiming asylum just before their permit is expired but those who doesn't fall under this category, should be considered for hearing and regular process of asylum in Canada.
I can understand they want to cut down on immigrants due to housing shortage, but...
@canuck78 - Do you think post election the reforms might happen? If os, what type of reform can be we expect as claimants? WIll that be decline in cases without hearing like Miller suggested; that would be too unfair to a lot of people.
I am a refugee claimant from BC, applied in January this year; got the work permit and brown paper in February; nothing since then. I am planning to see my friend who lives in SK in June. Do you need refugee travel document for domestic flights? Is there any restrictions on domestic flights when...
The written NOD is something IRB sents to the claimant, right?
But in this case, the lawyer was asked to submit documents, that's my question. After 3 hour hearing, if anything is asked, does that mean negative or no decision reached yet?
Also, even if reform happens, it will take quite a while to process these applications, might reduce the time like 20-30% but not going to be like 60-70% faster. So on average 2-2.5 years processing time should be expected as per current situation.
As long as I can work, the higher processing time won't bother much. I am expecting some reforms are made so that wait times reduces. People are waiting for 3 years to get PR, that sucks !!
Yeah. It's kind of evident that people are not in favor of Liberals, whatever Trudeau has done, won't get suddenly changed overnight by Mark Carney but in terms of immigration, Conservatives will be more strict. Especially they will reformat the process like refugee application > Judicial review...
I hope whatever decision they take regarding refugees, it helps Canadian Economy. People who are living in social assistance and on the contrary, who are contributing to Canadian economy by paying taxes, these things should be considered.
Actually in the light of fake applicants and people who...
Thanks for the clarification.
In your opinion, do you think there might be any reforms coming to refugee cases before next election?
I am expecting the hearing not before next Spring considering how many cases are pending
Not receiving any legal aid. Have a private lawyer. Will update the address. But thinking about if it's going to impact the processing time for the application
Hello,
I applied for refugee claim this year, January 2025 from Vancouver. If I want to move to different province, preferably Regina or Edmonton, will it be a problem in terms of processing of the application. I haven't heard from IRB yet, not expecting to hear as per other's update by end of...
