Separation during PR process - what happens to the dependent spouse?

Somehow I missed all these replies… thanks all for the input! It confirms what I thought about having to be taken off the application. I was assuming that her being off the application is what would happen but was surprised to hear that IRCC keeps telling her via the MP’s office that she’s...

    February 2025 - Citizenship Applications

I’m glad to see someone else who took the test on March 21 not have it updated yet. Makes me less anxious that it hasn’t been updated yet. Hope we both get it updated soon!

Separation during PR process - what happens to the dependent spouse?

Hi all, Curious if anyone knows what happens if the PA lets IRCC know that the PA and his or her spouse are now separated during the PR process? Is the dependent spouse booted from the application? Helping a friend navigate a difficult situation and her spouse told her he’s informed IRCC of...

Update to Bill C-71, the legislation to fix citizenship by descent

As an American citizen who was born and lived there for the first 28 years of my life before moving to Canada, yep I had to do a heck of a lot to prove I’d spent the 8 years, 5 of which were over the age of 14 or whatever it is in order to transmit citizenship to my kids born in Canada. All so I...

Update to Bill C-71, the legislation to fix citizenship by descent

I’ve personally been interested in this as one of our kids got her citizenship by descent while the other two were born in Canada and it has really bothered me that a child born outside Canada to a Canadian citizen, and who moved to Canada at 1 year old, would not be able to pass on her...

Anyone successfully got AOR while using visitor days in the physical presence calculation?

Also if IRCC didn’t want to deal with applications with visitor days then… they just wouldn’t count visitor days. So I don’t think you need to worry that using the visitor days that they clearly accept is going to screw up you getting AOR. There’s going to be variance in how fast people get...

Anyone successfully got AOR while using visitor days in the physical presence calculation?

I had some visitor days and got AOR quite quickly. But I had like 36 visitor days and almost 1200 days as a pr so I wasn’t really relying on those days - I only included them because they were within the 5 year eligibility period so I had to include them.
