My original question was about processing time. It is processed well in advance before 65 th birthdate provided if the applicant applies anytime after 64 th birthdate. Yeah, parents may leave... parents may visit ( 1 month, 2 month etc ) for a visit to other countries. Not just parents...

People at 65 need money or do not need money is different issue. But, you seem to be not aware that once people turn 64, they get letter to apply if there is info with government. And it gets processed before turning 65, but paid after 1 month from turning 65. For administrative reasons...

People visit other countries. For 1 month, 2 months or even upto 6 months. If a person stays in canada more than 6 months in a tax year/ Calendar year, one can take benefits in Canada not just OAS/GIS, any benifits. And people get paid 1 month after they turn 65. I bet you have no knowledge in this.

Yea, GIS /OAS eligibility to receive depends on residency in that particular year. By the way are you in 65 category, or you have seen some experience ? Thanks for sharing the link, however i know the rules of canadian government. My question is how long paper application takes for processing.
