I called IRCC and also pinged them on twitter. In both of the places, they said it's fine. I also noted down Agent ID from IRCC and reply on Twitter in case things go south. Please do something for yourself so that you have proof.

if you are inside Canada, that does not matter to you. Its expiry is related to landing only as far as I know. Otherwise its a document for lifetime till you do not get citizenship as everybody will ask for this if not PR card.
