Yes, U need a Canadian passport to apply for OCI ( need to attach a photocopy of the first page of CAD passport as per the document checklist ) , but you don't need to submit an actual CAD passport to submit your OCI application

Hi, your best option is OCI. ( with assumption you have or applied Canada passport ) Once u get surrender certificate, apply for OCI ( before Dec 15 ). As with OCI application you dont need to submit Canadian Passport.

I've submitted my Surrender Certificate application on August 3rd, but no news so far , status shows "processing at High Commission" . Ottawa BLS, how much I need to wait more ? or advise if I need to reach out India Embassy.

You have two options 1. Either call IRCC helpdesk, they can confirm. 2. Order GCMS ( which is lengthy process as it takes a month or more to receive GCMS notes ) Also, As soon as they receive fingers, they update the Citizenship tracker. I hope it helps. Thank you

My Journey with IRCC comes to an end as I received my certificate and got my passport application done in less than 2 weeks. Super easy process for Passport , It took me less than an hour wait for walk-in application ( I think I was lucky as one of the staffs put me in urgent processing line...
