What's going on at UAE visa office? Someone I know filed his work permit/visa application June 2020 and until now is pending. It's frustrating. What other ways to have someone look at or open his application?

It should be the same as long as you did not try to travel to Canada and was denied entry for it.

My wife also got refused on her application for a tourist visa about a year ago. We answered Yes on question 4D but answered No on question 4E. My interpretation on the question was that someone who landed or tried to enter in Canada but was refused admission and had to be sent back.

Log in this morning on our GCKEY account and on the line where it says final decision it said our application has been approved. My wife and I are just waiting for her passport to be returned back so we can start booking her a flight. I would like to thank everyone who helped me on this...
