Is there anyway to contact the Indian consulate in Toronto? It's been 9 days since I applied for my visa, but it still shows under processing. The processing time on BLS' website says 7 days for Canadian Nationals. I really need to travel urgently.
Thank you for the clarification, guess its still too early for any solid updates.I think they meant the Passport Seva website where you entered your surrender application online. Once you login, You will see the application / list of applications at the end of the page (It takes a few seconds to show).
Click the select button and you will see an option to Print Application Form and Track Application Status. Use the track application status to track progress at the consulate.
Go to BLS's website to track their Progress.
In both cases, use the application number from the Passport Seva website. This is also printed on the application receipt given by BLS.
Thanks, @ironsheikthelegend . I'll probably write one up myself and have it ready.BLS Toronto did not require it for me. But, just a letter stating where you work. It is typically available on the hR portal. But I think you can write it yourself too.
The status will show Surrender Certificate application form has been submitted. when you create the application. On the Passport Seva website it shows - Surrender Certificate application form has been submitted.
and BLS status should change toPassport application along with fee details have been received. The same is under processing at the Embassy/Consulate.
Processing at Consulate General
Thanks I will report back with the progress as it occurs. The status will show Surrender Certificate application form has been submitted. when you create the application.
Once BLS submits it to CGI, then the status should change to:
and BLS status should change to
That's what happened to my application.
There is now a new OCI Checklist (Jan 2022) that looks more streamlined and less redundant. To be fair, this is mentioned in the OCI checklist published by BLS. However, I do agree that they do tend to find trivial faults even in what we think is a correct application.
... and my experience today with Nipun was outstanding in the world on governmental bureaucracy. I was really impressed with the way he handled it with respect and understanding. Also, thank God for technology that I was able to rectify the mistake quickly and easily.
Consider yourself very lucky. I think these camps are quite rare. Also looks like you might have been able to bypass BLS and deal directly with CGI.Today I went for walkin service (Brampton) however there was no walkin but the guard gave me the address of gurdwara where there was camp (CGI) WALKIN - I SUBMITTED SURRENDER APPLICATION AND entry visa ..
Hope things go through fine as I have travelled planned for march 23 ..
Also the infor of camp has been on portal seems.. not sure if this is going to be held every week ..
Wow so they want us to submit the original Canadian Citizenship Certificate as well as original Canadian Passport for OCIThere is now a new OCI Checklist (Jan 2022) that looks more streamlined and less redundant.
New OCI Checklist (Jan 2022)
You can walk into a branch where you hold a account and request for the same. The details of the demand draft and amount are on the BLS website. If you are paying for courier separately then the draft is for $129.40how to get demand draft for surrender
I always go to any Canada Post, cheap and quickhow to get demand draft for surrender
Yeah, different rules for different jurisdictions! I confirmed on call, Vancouver wants only self attested copies the way they mentioned in their checklist.Wow so they want us to submit the original Canadian Citizenship Certificate as well as original Canadian Passport for OCI
The very thought of sending originals to the CGI is frightening, because there is no way of saying how long they will take to process and reading this thread they are no good at responding to emails either, leave alone the possibility of the package getting lost!!!Yeah, different rules for different jurisdictions! True that - Passport and the Cert and possibly COPR - that's like a LOT of important stuff to be sent by mails! The very thought of sending originals to the CGI is frightening, because there is no way of saying how long they will take to process and reading this thread they are no good at responding to emails either, leave alone the possibility of the package getting lost!!!
It will be like being paralyzed for that duration of time, cant travel cant do anything.
