Just want to confirm if your current employer specific work permit needs to be valid for 6 months to be eligible to apply for the VOWP?

As long as your work permit is valid then yes.

Hi, I just applied for the VOWP on 22 April, received an email saying that my work permit is temporarily extended till 22 August 2022 ,till they make a decision. Will keep you posted about the rest.

I applied on April 04, 2022. the next day got an email saying my work permit is temporarily extended till August 3, 22. I haven't heard anything back since.

Jeez… that’s not good. What kind of abuse where you subjected to and what supporting documents did you submit ?

Basically I was working over 40% what I was getting paid for, been trying to communicate that with management, and was told that my status here is tied to my employee specific work visa and I have to leave my house and husband if they take it away. I contacted the Ministry of labor and IRCC and was told to qualify for VOWP. While I was on the phone with I RCC, I got a zoom call from my boos and he told me to send him my two week notice. and immediately I noticed they've already disconnected my email and VPN access. The agent on the phone heard it all and sent me an email and said I just need to fill and submit imm5710e and imm0017e. I am American and my job title was project manager. The worst part is I found another job (Got the offer on Friday) and the only thing holding me back is not having a work permit.

Sorry to hear that. Have you tried calling IRCC for an update?

Hopefully you will get the work permit this week.

I am being financially abused, being charged for pay stubs, job letter etc. I am also being paid for fewer hours than I am made to work.
Being sexually and verbally abused too. I submitted screenshots of chats to prove the abuse.
I didn’t contact ministry of labour, never knew I could do that

I applied for VOWP almost 2 month ago and have not heard anything back only the email right after applied .
Is that mean that my application not meet the requirement?
I am so disappointed.
I do not know what is going wrong maybe its just Ukrainian conflict result.

No, this doesn't meet that your application hasn't met the requirements. It just means IRCC is still processing your application.

There is no fixed processing time for these work permits. It can certainly take several months for the application to be processed.
