Hello.
We are applying for a parent super visa from the UK, 2 years will not be enough, we want to visit family and tour the country, we are getting older and this will be a very expensive and ' A one shot' trip for us, we really do not need a 10 yr visa but we would like to do at least 3 years without leaving, we know all the rules for super visa but everything relies on us really being able to do 3. Anyone any recent experience with getting 3 or more years.

A supervisa doesn’t allow you to stay in Canada for 3 years, up to 2 years. Those are the rules. You can stay for two, leave for a while and then re-enter. Your children need meet LICO for you to apply.

Thx for response. I am fully aware its for 2 years, I said I would Like to do 3 years, the link you sent does not say you leave for a day, week, month, year and you can come back, that is my point. In many countries you can exit a country for 24 hrs and start again, not so in Canada and and quite right to.
I was am asking for anyone who has legally applied to extend to say 3 years if they remain within the application criteria, and where they successful or not, maybe they never extend them as you say?

Once your parents are in Canada and close to the end of their two year visit, you can apply to extend their stay from within Canada. There is definitely a chance of approval and I would say this is definitely the preferred method of extending a stay vs. exiting and then immediately (or soon after) trying to re-enter Canada. Generally speaking, once someone on a super visa leaves Canada after a multi year stay in Canada, they want to remain outside of Canada for at least a year or so before attempting to return again for a long trip. So a within Canada extension is the best way to try to achieve the 3 years. It's of couse not guaranteed to be approved but this is the best path.

Would make sure you have a plan if the extension is denied. We see many who assume that they will get selected for pgp while their parents are in Canada on a super Visa and essentially move to Canada. When they aren't selected for pgp or are not granted an extension they run into big problems since they have no place to return to. 2 years is a lot of time for a visitor to remain in Canada.

Totally agree, you have nothing till you have it, we are not looking at any pgp, its more a case of a once in a lifetime holiday with our son at an age we can still enjoy, see Canada East to West, and being able to rent our home out long term, which we will be returning to in the UK, we would happily forego the 10yr multi entry, and have one valid entry for 3 yrs.

Unfortunately not an option.
