Hi,
Has anyone applied for Entry Visa recently ?
Need info if they are still issuing entry visa ?
What’s the duration of visa ? Can we ask for multiple entry up to 5 years or it is random ?

I went to apply for my minor's entry visa yesterday, Ottawa location. BLS did not take the application, they said - entry visas are not being issued right now except under urgent medical situations. To apply under urgent medical situations you need a doctor's certificate from India and affidavit from the traveller explaining the whole situation.

Even after submitting all the documents there is no guarantee it will be issued for the duration you want it for. For e.g. if you, in the form, requested for 12 month validity, HCI may issue you the entry visa for 1 month or for 12 months, its up to them how they perceive your emergency situation.

Oh this is bad news to some people. This actually sucks. So, the only way to visit India now if there are on a time-crunch is use their Indian passport OR cancel the trip and wait for OCI.

Thanks for your response. I was speaking to someone and he applied 2-3 months ago and he mentioned no hassle at all for entry visa. Clearly, BLS guidelines are not consistent . Unfortunately, CGI does not update any info anywehere and let local BLS centres call the shots ..
I guess, this leaves me with only 1 option as Raj mentioned

I was about to book the tickets to India day before yesterday but I am so glad I didn't. Will just apply and wait for OCI now.

That's exactly the point I put forward about no mentioning of the medical emergency clause for Entry Visa either on BLS website or HCI's website. But if you know someone that went thru with the process easily it is worth a shot if your location is different from Ottawa.

Yeah even if there isn't a clause there and even if they give you the visa, I'd be worried if the airline will allow you to board the flight. Entry visa is an umbrella term. An entry visa, AFAIK, has a type attached to it like Entry visa - Work, Entry visa - Medical, Entry visa - Study or Entry Visa - Tourist etc. Since India doesn't allow people with a tourist visa into the country, what if the airline takes one look at the visa and decides not to board you because you have a tourist visa.

Traveling internationally is tiring by itself, add pandemic and confusion to the mix and you've got yourself a nasty cocktail called the "Worst travel experience of your life".

I wouldn't honestly risk it. We need CONFIRMED reports from someone who has actually travelled using an entry visa (with no emergency) to India to come to some sort of conclusion.

I don’t know why the fuck people keep posting about OCI and Indian visa in a citizenship thread when there are different threads already active. And now as usual this rajkamalmohanram will comment on this as well. This is a CITIZENSHIP thread.
1. You don't own the forum.
2. Yes the OP opened a new thread instead of posting it in the OCI thread. Its probably a mistake and that's okay.

This is the Citizenship "topic" and there has been an active OCI "thread" here since 2014.

You are BRAND new to the forum so you probably don't know much about how it works. Get used to it. If you are so repulsed by this, when you see a thread, go ahead and direct them to the thread above and politely request them to post their queries on that thread instead of playing the forum moderator and complaining. I don't see the "actual" forum mods and the admin complaining about this - they don't have a problem with this. If you want, take this up with the forum moderators yourself and see if it violates their rules instead of complaining and referencing my name in sentences such as "as usual this rajkamalmohanram will comment on this as well"

All the best.

the author has clearly specified Entry Visa in the subject to avoid any confusion. If this doesn't concern you it is not too hard to stay away from this sub-thread like100s and 1000s of other users did. And next-time be more civilized.

Wrong thread or not , you should still use a decent language to communicate your point of view . I asked this question and started this as a new thread to avoid any confusion . If this doesn’t concern you , you can totally skip . Btw there are 1000s of threads , you can check each and every post to ensure if that’s valid .
Ofcourse , your point is valid and I am going to keep that in mind .

Hi,
Is COPR required to apply for entry visa + surrender?
Not required for entry visa, required for surrender; As per the sheet posted on the BLS door.

But surprisingly, they did not check COPR or took any copy of COPR for surrender as well.
More surprisingly, i applied for OCI yesterday, they did not check COPR or took an copy of COPR for OCI as well.

I can share the photo of the sheet posted on BLS door if you can give me your email ID.

I sent you my email. Thanks for the info.
Them not looking at COPR for OCI is surprising but for surrender I think the checklist on the site does not mention COPR either.
