Once you have an approved LMIA from your employer then you can use the points. Then you apply for a closed work permit if you want to work in Canada if you are waiting or will not get an ITA. If your score is around 480 you may get an invite whenever draws resume. Assume your employer is proving no Canadian or PR could be hired, only you.
I thought that getting an approved LMIA means that the employee has proved that no Canadian or PR could be hired? I intend to apply for my work permit while waiting for ITA draw. I just want to confirm that it won't be an issue since the LMIA is for work permit (not dual intent)

If you have an approved LMIA (not LMIA exempt) then you can count the 50 points. The LMIA proves no Canadian could be hired. You will want a score above 470 or even 480 for an ITA through EE.
