My family and I just got our PR and am planning to renew my passport. I initially applied for refugee but was refused my daughters were granted. I later apply for H&C and was granted PR.
Now I just got my passport back and it has expired but I want to renew and also travel to my home country will it be wise to do that since I initially apply for refugee and was refused. Please I need advise. Thank you.
yes since you were refused as refugee you can renew and go back
I am not at all certain that
@sohaib1 is wrong.
But who falls within the scope of IRPA cessation of protected person status provisions is a very complicated subject regarding which there is a lot of uncertainty, more than a little confusion, and regarding which more than a few have gotten things way, way wrong far too often.
So, even assuming that
@sohaib1's conclusion is probably correct (though the reasoning is off), if protecting your status to remain in Canada is important that probability is not good enough. In particular, if there is any possibility you could be considered a person in need of protection,
it will be best to get advice from a competent, reputable lawyer with experience in immigration law related to protected persons and H&C PR . . . and do this BEFORE attempting to renew your passport, let alone before using a home country passport to travel, and for sure BEFORE traveling to the home country.
I have addressed this in much more depth here:
