Hi,

My Study permit got refused and I am planning to apply GCMS notes. I am applying with my PR friend as a representative. Request the forum members assistance on the below?

1. Should I select Department as CBSA or IRCC? Any difference between them on which one will be quicker?
2. I applied under one GC Key for Self, Spouse(SOWP), Daughter(SP), Son(Tourist). Should I apply for GCMS notes individually?
3. If we have to apply separately, then in the Consent form should I and my spouse sign on the same form or separate forms? The reason for this query is as I am not clear on the below words in the consent form

"If your spouse or common-law partner, children 16 years of age or older, or any other individuals whose information could be contained in the requested records wishes to release their information to the designated representative, they must sign in the space provided. Information about minors will only be released with consent from both parents or valid Canadian court order indicating that the applicant is permitted to obtain their information. Obtaining consent from all parties will permit Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to release their information and will provide you with more information in response to your request "

Request to clarify.

Thanks

Why aren’t you applying for GCMS notes yourself? Apply yourself and don’t go through all the hassle of appointing a representative.

I thought only one among the following can apply for GCMS notes as per the information given in the below link

https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/requesterInformation

*To be eligible to make a request, you must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or an individual or corporation currently present in Canada. Please select the category that best describes you.
No there are companies that do it for you. Costs around $30. Google “order GCMS notes” and you will get a list of companies.

Thanks for the reference.

I thought the process was straightforward so that I can ask my PR friend to apply and we would provide our consent.

However, on the consent form, we are not sure if both of us have to sign or better apply for both of us seperately.

Yes your PR friend can request on your behalf, for $5.
1. Apply to CBSA, in my experience they tend to be faster in responding.
2. Only 1 GCMS application. Make sure your wife (and any dependent 18 or older) signs the consent form as well.

I received acknowledgment today from CBSA on my GCMS application. Any idea on how long it will take for me to receive the GCMS notes post acknowledgment. Thank you

My most recent GCMS request with CBSA was fulfilled in 90 days(they asked for 30 days extension after a month. Surprisingly the law around it allows them to delay it that way which I found pretty strange) Anyways, It is pretty random as some people get it earlier. If you are lucky you get in in 30 days.

After 30 days I was also been told for further 60- days extension
