wow - thanks for the heads up....I'm speechlessJust a word of advice for folks entering Canada newly, i saw the below chat from a grp i belong to...pls pass on to new landing immigrants
Hello folks.
A very important message for newly arrived PR. pls if you are instructed or expected to quarantine for 14 days or two weeks, pls ensure you observe and comply fully without breaking any of the covid protocol giving that you are still very new as PR
Members of Nigerian community in ON just narrated an ordeal of a family that just arrived within this period of controversy and were informed to quarantine for 14 days, but they went shopping and unfortunately Health Canada came calling on Sunday, Nov 28 at their expected place of quarantine in Markham Downs, ON but they did not find them in quarantine
Unfortunately their PR was revoked and were immediately deported back to Nigeria . The Nigerian High Commissioner in Ottawa tried to intervene, but it was unsuccessful.
Pls comply fully without any breaking of the laws of the land. This is Canada and not Nigeria
Thanks a lotYou're in the wrong forum...also stop worrying about PR Card when others are longing to see their spouses.
Hello my friend @MurphyA , pls how did u manage to get an appointment for medical in Nigeria. I received medical request today and all appointment dates seem booked till March 2022Next roadblock. We received our medical request but have so far been unsuccessful in booking one. Either the website doesn’t work or they don’t return our emails, or they’re completely booked. It’s incredibly frustrating. Has anyone received a medical appointment recently in Lagos?
Thank you very muchThank you. Well it's not over yet lol until arrived here. In every step there's a waiting process so we will wait again until we actually receive passport back from VO. But it is another step in the process so we are happy and hope the best for you and all to hear good news soon.
ADR - we had a lawyer, so he was extremely helpful in guiding us through the process.
I had submitted extensive evidence in addition to what was already submitted through the process which all members had before we started the ADR.
Attending: IAD member (very nice), Minister's Counsel (extremely hard nosed, stern difficult person), my counsel (lawyer) and me.
Minister's Counsel (MC) asked me all the questions, IAD member didn't really interfere and my lawyer didn't really have anything to add
I was extremely nervous but I was in the mindset that I am just telling these people our story and that's how I dealt with it.
MC asked
Who each of us were as people, what was going on in our lives, what lead us to meet each other
How and why did we meet and the progression of our relationship
What was our relationship with our families/friends and each other's families and friends
Why did we want to marry
How did the relationship start, how did it grow
Why did we decide to marry, how did our friends and families react to our relationship and marriage
She tried to mix me up on some dates and facts and I would tell her no, and I corrected her, keeping calm throughout
She asked what we would do if we were denied again, what were our future plans, how have we maintained a relationship through long distance, etc.
She had clearly read every page of evidence I submitted (I believe it was like 100 pages)
She made notes throughout
She was definitely there to make me feel uncomfortable, but again, I was of a mindset that I am just telling you our story, and I think that's what got me through.
At the end of our meeting, IAD member asked if my lawyer had anything to add, he felt I presented myself very well and that there was nothing to add.
IAD member and MC stepped out of the meeting call for less than 5 minutes and came back and offered their decision
MC said my evidence was so very well presented and that I handled her questions very well, that she had no doubt about our relationship
MC gave her decision that appeal would be granted with no hesitation
Suggestions for you:
Your lawyer will be the best person to give you guidance and 'hold your hand' throughout the process
Your lawyer should discuss concerns from case notes, review your evidence submission and do mock interview to go over questions preparing you
Have your lawyer give you the case notes so you can address same with your evidence
Make notes, go over your history, read and re-read your notes
Then take a few hours off before your hearing to calm down and just collect your thoughts
It is very stressful, but remember, you guys are together and you are just telling them your story...
There are other threads with more detailed questions, have a look through
Take a deep breath and keep faith, we are here for you, support you and wish you the best!!
Congratulations my dear all the bestUpdate on timeline:
