Weird thing is, even at the most nationalistic time, US threw away the nationalistic government. Canada elected a liberal government with slightly bigger number of seats.
Completely missed the point...

aight man, immigration to Canada is super easy right now and it totally DIDN'T take me 3+ years to make zero progress despite being the top 5% of scores. Canadian immigration will definitely get easier or whatever i guess

I'm going back to hopium rehab if there's no ppr today
If it doesn't rain today, it'll probably rain tomorrow. They might just be rolling out the requests in batches.

I'd like to see how far they go if they keep up the pace till the end of the month

"height of trump's populism" as if it's declining. It's stronger than ever, and he has a strong chance of winning in 2025, especially with the new voting restriction laws showing up in most swing states. And you missed my point. Trumpism is slowly making its way to Canada. Not sure aware, many ''American" alt right figures are Canadian. Jordan Peternson and Gavin McInnes to name a couple. The conservatives can easily change immigration policies because it is the easiest to scapegoat. OToole tried a (relatively) pro climate poilcy, for instance, and that went pretty poorly. So they can keep experimenting, and nobody would bat an eye if they came out and said lets limit immigration.

idk I'm pretty bored of the theorizing and shit, so I'm out. No FSW till March or April anyway, so no point coming here. Don't know why I still open up the forum lol
If populism is really spreading in Canada, why didn't the PPC get at least 1 seat at the table? you'd figure that if they're expanding then they should've got at least some support from the public. Furthermore, why did the left leaning parties like NDP, and Liberals expanded their seat at the table. Given that the elections was just a few months ago, it's reflective that currently Canada is more left leaning than right leaning. Can it change in the future? perhaps, but Trumpism, doesn't seem to taking root.

Yes, i've heard now there are postgraduate work permits being issued to make the UK competitive again with international students, but the reality is it will always be difficult to settle there permanently. It might get a bit easier post-Brexit but the demand is so high it will not make much of a difference.
I know many people who had it easy. Went to the UK on study visa and kept on renewing their student visas until they had spent enough time to apply for PR. I think it was a combination of abuse and some racist sentiment generally that made the situation so dire. Should have thought more about choosing my destination but hindsight is always perfect. I also heard that the UK is trying to adopt a similar point based system as Canada. Also heard about (word of mouth) a possible agreement between Canada, UK and Australia for free movement of PR holders.

Small correction !

You are in the top 2.4 %, don't undervalue yourself. ;)

Well, Canada doesn’t need much skilled labor, it’s mostly unskilled they need right now. But which one changes constantly. So the question is, considering a 29 Y.O. mechanical engineer and a 45 Y.O. car mechanic, who would have a better chance of changing fields if theirs isn’t in demand. I think that was the plan for Alberta choosing several engineers. Since you could work as a technician(unless it’s trade certified, but it’s still easier for you), while a technician can’t be an engineer. The question is if those coming in want to downgrade. That depends where they are coming from. In Brazil, most engineers work as analysts so it would still be an upgrade even if you work as a technician.
I can't work as a technician for shit lol I'm vastly overqualified. In fact I'm overqualified even for most engineering roles in Canada. Most are just repetitive low end stuff. You'll find the typical "we started 6 months ago with 1 bil angel investor money" kind of startup in BC, who asks me "where do you see yourself in 5 years" even after seeing the big names in my resume lol.

My options are ON or QC if I really wanna keep a similar career. Well, QC isn't Canada so that's only Ontario left. I'm not looking to find myself another -shittier- Vancouver so I don't even consider Ontario; at least Vancouver has some proper nature I can enjoy without having to go back into the shittyass big city life again. Alberta is gold for me but finding a job is damn hard.

You know, the more I type about and discuss these with people here, the farther away I get from the idea of wanting to live in Canada. Considering the time I've put into immigrating to Canada, I probably would've become permanent in another country with far better job and life prospects.

I'm not sure if you're talking about CANZUK, but if so, it still a bit far off from being a reality.

If canzuk happened, everybody in CA AUS NZ would move to the UK first thing lol. CA AUS NZ share all that pseudo first world traits; shitty job market and shitty careers.

Cheaper rents for me then, personally the only country I'd consider for my career growth is USA. The UK is good, but after Brexit a lot of jobs in my field has moved to the EU. Canada actually opened up more jobs than the UK in my line of work in the last 3 months, which is surprising.

Then yes, for your case your Canadian immigration journey lines up with your career; you're lucky. For my career UK blows Canada out of the water; no way Canada could ever catch up with the UK in my field.

Why is life so hard lol

Far better than Canada. You know, not just in job prospects but my country is actually far better than Canada in multiple ways. It's just the pay is shit here, purchasing power is low (not like Venezuela low but low since our benchmark is Europe), and politics is not very stable. So my immigration to Canada is downgrading most of the components of my life for the sake of (political) peace. Not sure if it's worth it anymore lol. Is it really peace if all my friends and family are a world away? If I blew up my decent career? I think we don't immigrate for ourselves but for the next generations. I can stay in my country and live an ok life, but that'd fuck up my kids. Or I can immigrate and fuck up my life but my kids would live good. I'm not crazy about having kids so maybe I'm just shooting myself in the leg by immigrating to Canada lol
