Great post!
I have a few queries with regards to applying for a Canadian citizenship:

1. My eligibility period as per the physical presence calculator is 8th October 2016. My old passport's end date is July 2016 and my new passport's start date is May 2016.
A. Do I need to declare my older passport?
B. Will I ever need to present my older passport? (I can't seem to find it and if it's needed then I am going to have to arrange for it)

2. I got laid off from my Permanent full time job in Apr last year. I started my incorporation on July 31st. My Contract start date was Aug 30. So how do I show my work history?
A. May to July unemployed or
B. May to Aug unemployed?
Note that I had claimed CERB for August too.

3. While declaring my employment status when I was on contract, under employer should I mention my incorporation name or just mention self employed?

4. My Incorporation is active even though I am in a full time permanent job. I have kept it open for future opportunities as well as part time opportunities. Trust showing this won't create any confusion

5. Which of the above points do I need to include in my letter of explanation?

Nothing is completed except the citizenship test which was done in June 2021. October 6 there was an update but I do not know what the update was because the screen is the same. What is going on?

Online is the way to go since it's paperless (so no mailing documents, etc.) and efficient. But only individual applicants can apply online (as of yet) - so if one has to apply as a family, then applying on paper is the only possibility (as of yet). Processing timelines between both channels are very similar (so that should not be used as a deciding factor).
perfect. we are separated with my husband now. almost divorced - will apply separately as individuals online. thank you!

Hi all

I have a question about the physical presence calculator.

I am getting ready to submit my application, and I am inputting my dates spent outside Canada and i am doing this whilst still absent from Canada. However the on calculator you must enter a date you returned. How should I proceed as I won't be returning to Canada before applying?

Is it just to change the eligibility dates?
I don't recommend submitting your application while you are outside the country. Most people leave the country after submitting the application.

When did you leave Canada?

A ghost update. Happens sometimes. After a ghost updates, in several occasions, a "real" update usually follows.

Hello All,

I have question regarding Minor application for my son. In parent details in case of Mother's name should we write last name prior to marriage or last name after marriage. What does this mean to us name before marriage if applicable? I haven't found any clarity in application guide.

b. Surname (Last name) (name before marriage if applicable)

Usually female adopt the spouse last name after marriage so is that fine to use if child birth is after marriage?

Thanks,

Forget about usual. What did mother of your child did? Did she change her last name officially after the marriage or not? If so, write her last name before the marriage here. If not, her lat name before and after marriage would be same, so no confusion. Not everyone changes their last name after marriage, hence "if applicable".

Quick question: I submitted my application on June 28 and received my AOR on October 3. Today (October 12) I received the link to the application tracker. However, the tracker shows my application has been in process since August 23? Does this just mean they scanned the barcodes that day, or has it actually been in process for that long already? It's odd the AOR was sent almost 1.5 months afterwards.

It's unlikely they'll ask for receipts/rental agreements - but yes, you should mention the AirBnB address since you had no other address at the time and they specifically state you cannot leave in any gaps.
