First medicals passed, then my medicals expired.
No updates from there on
Right now, I am like a blind trying to describe an elephant but I think, when we do an upfront new medical, it goes to Health Canada panel who has a SLA of 1 week (in past) and 1 month (now). This is why your medical gets updated like a clock work when you do a new IME. In old IME, there is no involvement of Health Canada and all things are done by IRCC. So updates are erratic. Whenever VO looks in the case and reaches that point, he or she update it. Worse part? They may not even look at the application because it will not have a medical code (m1, m2 etc) in it.
Net - Net, it reduces load on health canada but slows your application a bit (probably).
