Hello Everyone,

My girlfriend is a PR in canada and she is sponsoring me as a conjugal partner. we are in long distance relationship for five years, we met only once in foreign country then I tried to apply for tourist visa to Canada to meet her but it was denied then we have planned to meet in Philippines but unfortunately this COVID pandemic happened. Recently we came to know about this conjugal partner application so we thought of applying for it and we did.

We have attached the photos of our conversation and photos when we meet, financial support documents, toursit visa denied email. Can someone please advise what is our chance of getting our application approved?

It's hard to say what your chances are based on the information you have provided. I would say the chances are probably very low based on the fact you have only met in person once in five years.

To prove common law, you must show that you have a "marriage like relationship". Ideally this should mean shared property and assets.

You also want to show that both marriage and common law are impossible for you. I'm not sure that COVID will be accepted as a reason for this.

If you've only met once in five year, this looks more like a dating relationship than a marriage like relationship.

I think you should be prepared for a refusal and make plans to get married or live together for a year to become common law once COVID allows you to do that.
