PPR Letter & Submission options

Hey guys

So today I got what I believe is the PPR letter

It reads :

This letter refers to your application for permanent residence. We require the following documents to enable us to finalize your application:
Prepaid courier: a prepaid courier airway bill so that your documents can be returned to you.
If not already provided, two (2) photos of yourself and each accompanying family member respecting precise specifications that can be found at: link
Copy of this letter

Here are some details. The application didn't ask for a passport or copy ?

Perhaps, this may be because I'm from a visa exempt country and My MP office recently sent them a copy of my new passport ? Anyone know?

Second, I'm living and working on a private island in The Bahamas and don't have access to courier service here. I could fly to the main city or Florida and get it done but to my knowledge The Bahamas doesn't have a mailing system where packages can be delivered/returned to a personal residence or in this case a small island. I thought they would have allowed me to send copies of everything through Gckey and then send me electronic COPR as I have seen in other posts from other visa exempt country applicants. I guess everything will be hard copy.

You left out quite a bit of the letter so hard to say - but first thing, read the instructions carefully. And again. And then - do what the instructions say.

Where are you to submit this information? Directly to Ottawa, or a visa application centre, or directly to some consulate?

At any rate at minimum would attach a photocopy of passport as well - yes, as visa waiver country you do not need to submit the physical passport. Including a photocopy certainly won't hurt.

As for courier service - if you use a commercial service like FedEx or something (or through their local partners) they should be able to offer something like that. If you're in a place where even they don't deliver, you're just going to have to find some address to which to have the return package delivered, whether friend, family, or work address. (I'd suggest confirming carefully with the courier service before using a post office box).

Change in circumstances: Should any of the following circumstances apply to you or any accompanying family member, you must inform this office immediately:
 Change in marital status, for example due to marriage, divorce, legal separation, annulment or death of spouse;
 Change in family composition, for example due to adoption or birth of a child, including a child born to your accompanying dependent child,
 Death of principal applicant, spouse, accompanying children, or death of sponsoring relative;
 Change in health;
 You or any of your accompanying family members being charged or convicted of a criminal offence  Change in contact information: mailing address, e-mail address, or telephone number. Your failure to inform IRCC offices of any of these changes may result in the cancellation of your permanent resident visa and may render you and your accompanying family members inadmissible to Canada. Your failure to declare all of your family members, accompanying or not, will permanently exclude them from sponsorship under the Family Class regulations.

How to submit the requested documentation: Please send your documents directly to the High Commission via courier to the address below.

Can I send it to any address? I have family in Florida and it would be easier and faster to send it to their address.

Secondly, how long does one have to submit PPR? It doesn't state in the letter a timeframe

Thanks, interesting. Surprising to me they don't ask for copy of the passport (I'd still suggest including a photocopy of the tombstone page - won't cost you anything).

I don't have much to say but that the easiest thing is to follow the instructions and provide a return address where you can get easily (Nassau? don't know).

I can only guess that this is because the Canada visa centre (run by some third-party company, TTservices?) in Nassau is closed.

It is theoretically possible for any Canadian mission with an immigration section (eg Miami? Again, don't know) to print the COPR and deal with it. If you think it's worth your time to chase that option down, by all means, you can try.

As for time period, usually the letter says submit within thirty days. But for whatever reason they've not put that. I'd still suggest not delaying but if it's truly impossible, it's probably manageable. If you're not in a big rush follow the instructions and it will probably work out. (And if you decide to freelance, no guarantee it will move any quicker).

Background (just FYI): we did through Warsaw and got request to submit direct to Warsaw even though in Russia, because the VACs were closed. In process of figuring out how to do this (there are specific Russian laws about not sending passports abroad), we found out Moscow embassy didn't know about this and the VACs were about to open anyway, so we submitted locally (Warsaw embassy confirmed that was okay). But this was also with physical passports and was all changing day to day.

I doubt it will make much difference and will probably be simpler just to follow the instructions. I don't think they're trying to catch anyone out or play games, just that the covid situation is forcing them to make things up as they go along.

Note that separately Kingston visa office in embassy has been quiet for months (acc to Kingston thread here) and all of a sudden got actve in the last few days. This is REALLY reminiscent of what happened with Warsaw/Moscow etc that they seemed to be waiting for some months to come up with a solution and then all of a sudden there was a flurry of PPR requests all in a short period of time.

Thank you @armoured ! I will probably get it shipped out of Nassau to Kingston and then have it returned to Nassau to DHL or Fedex ( i think they have that option) and i'll return to Nassau to receive it. I don't think Nassau has delivery service. Most people send shipments/packages to a central receiving facility on the island. If this doesn't work, I will go with the US option and have it shipped to my family in Palm Beach. I can always take a quick flight and hop over to get it.

Note that separately Kingston visa office in embassy has been quiet for months (acc to Kingston thread here) and all of a sudden got actve in the last few days. This is REALLY reminiscent of what happened with Warsaw/Moscow etc that they seemed to be waiting for some months to come up with a solution and then all of a sudden there was a flurry of PPR requests all in a short period of time.

you may want to check in the Kingston thread about how the PPR is being done - presumably similar to yours, at least for those that don't need visas (i.e. no need to submit passports).

@armoured Yes I'll check there. I think Jamaica applicants are visa required . I am visa exempt so there may be a slight difference in process but i'll check there to see if anyone is in similar situation. Thanks for all the help!

Hey @armoured so I will mail my PPR off to Kingston VO as instructed but use my family address in Florida to have the COPR returned. As said previously, there are no options to have it returned to myself as i'm currently on an island with no courier service. I also don't have an address in Nassau or trusted persons I can have it sent to. I go to my family in Florida often and can pick it up the next time I go over.

Would this be a problem or will IRCC not care as long as the address is legitimate? Do you know?

Don't know, but do't see why they'd not deliver to that.
