Hello everyone,

Its been over a year now exactly and there is no update on the file. Still shows background check in progress. Time line for my brother is:

AOR: May 1 2020
Biometrics Done: Oct 9 2020
No update since then
waiting on GCMS notes: applied 2 weeks ago.
Current city: Calgary, Alberta

Question: His work permit is only valid till July, what options do we have? Should we apply for a bridged work permit or wait and stay at implied status. Anyone in similar situation.

Thank you
Apply for BOWP... In worst case scenario if you don’t have valid immigration status in Canada by the expiry of your WP then they will not issue you the COPR...

@legalfalcon I have a question. Although I am bio-exempted for providing biometrics during my study permit application, my profile still says we don't need your fingerprints, we will message you if this changes. Do you think it's better to book an appointment for biometrics and get it completed?

My last update as of April, 19:

We verified the information on file and can confirm that:

  • The eligibility is currently valid.
  • The security background verification has not been initiated.
  • The criminal background verification is in progress.
Please guide me on this one. Thank you!

Raise a web form and inform IRCC about the biometric exemption instead of attempting to do one.

Based on the web form your Eligibility may have been passed by an officer. Nothing of concern

In the most recent policy change, IRCC has informed that if you have given biometrics in the last 10 years, you are exempt from giving them again. To check if your previous biometrics are valid, you can check the status at <https://onlineservices-servicesenligne.cic.gc.ca/extapp/bioStatusQuery?fbclid=IwAR2XOMUJJMcdwNWG8awkgF_u7OGylXTxRqhCM_g23tSqq1uJVhC2KyRv1aI>

If your webform response says that your eligibility is currently valid, it means that it has been passed or or recommended passed.

“Valid” here indicates, that the documents required for the specific stage are “legal, not expired, and accepted by IRCC,” and no further input is required by the applicant.

Hi @legalfalcon can you please help me with GCMS notes
Under my client details
Counterfoil required is written yes can you please explain me what is it .
i am fully inland applicant
A Counterfoil document is issued by IRCC and is placed in a person’s passport for applicants who are not from visa exempt country. It does not weather your are inland or not.

Due to COVID, IRC has done away with issuing PR visa, and give COPRs to inland applicants, but the GCMS will reflect counterfoil required.
