Hello everyone,
I hope you guys are doing great. I recently applied for a citizenship grant (2 days ago to be exact), and I decided to look at my application again and I realized I made a mistake at the gender area. I accidentally put female even though I am a male. Now the only option I saw to update it is to send a webform to IRCC, and I was curious if there is anything else I need to do? Also I didn't see any confirmation email from them regarding the webform unless there is one usually. I just want my application to go as smooth as possible.

Thank you

Web form or contact them. There is a chance they have not even received your application yet. So you should wait until it has arrived (either by tracking if you paid for it, or wait 1-2 weeks if you are within Canada). This is just a change of personal details similar to an address.

I would however check the rest of the applications for mistakes too, just in case there are more.

Hey Andrew, I made sure to check the rest and everything else seemed fine! Should I contact them tomorrow or wait till they actually recieve the application? Will they not respond to the web form because they haven't received the application yet?

Chances of them responding are pretty slim at the best of times. Mostly, from my experience they will act on it and not inform you e.g. change your gender on the form.

If I was you I would wait until it has been received and then email them. Bear in mind AOR is around 2-3 months so they might not get to your application until then. Earlier you contact them the better, but only once you received it. You can also call them after you have told them to change your gender to ask if it has been rectified.

Thank you for your help I guess I will have to wait and contact them a bit later. Appreciate it!

If you have your client ID number then you can write a letter to CIC stating that you have submitted the citizenship application and made an effort in it. Request them to update the gender in the application. Don't forget to mention your client ID number.

Notethat all your applications get logged under your client ID.
