Decision Made for Proof of Canadian Citizenship

Hi,
I believe that I might be a Canadian citizen by descent. I applied for a certificate of Canadian citizenship and the status of my application was just updated to "Decision Made."

I was contacted by IRCC, who wanted to know when my father immigrated to the U.S. from Canada. He immigrated before 1947 (most likely as a British subject), and I believe he never renounced his citizenship. I know that dual citizenship wasn't really routine back then, so they might not have allowed it. He might have lost his citizneship then.

However, I belive that I could have made a claim between 1977 and 2004 (when dual citizenship became allowed) and then again after 2009, when most "Lost Canadians" born outside of Canada in the first generation were eligible to apply for citizenship. I could be wrong, but that is how I understood the Citizenship by descent laws.

Has anyone else received a positive result with the "Decision Made" update? Or does it vary case by case?

Thanks for any information.

Delayed registration was only applicable if the person was actually eligible for it between 1947 to 1977; since you were born in 1932 (as stated in another post), you weren't eligible for it between 1977 and 2004; you only became eligible for citizenship by descent in 2015 that extended the definition to former British subjects and their children before 1947.

I did not receive the "Decision Made" line, just the "Your citizenship certificate was mailed to..." line after my last update 2 years prior. So at least in my experience, the next line after "Decision Made" is more indicative of the result.

may I ask how long your application was on ‘Decision made’ for?
I am in a similar situation and my application has been ‘Decision made’ for almost a week.

Kind regards
BUMP, how long did it take Flpeteryan & nathan lavery from "Decision Made" to mailing?

Hi - It was roughly a month for me to move from “Decision made” to “complete”

My certificate was sent late November 2020 (so around a month after the initial “Decision made” )
and I received it 2 months later. (I’m in the UK mind) so it went through the London embassy so may have taken longer than people in the US.

Regards
