Aren't they already?
Some of them were closed due to lockdown. I remembered seeing a date of opening for Toronto BLS center in BLS website. But I didnt realize that it was yesterday's date. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, you are right. All of them are open now as per the notification in BLS website.

It's better to visit BLS website(blsindia-canada) for the latest instructions. We never know when they will change/update the process.

At this time of writing, below is the flow

BLS -> Consulate -> SP office in India -> Local police station -> Sp office in India -> Consulate -> BLS -> applicant

The details about PCC is under Passport > Police Clearance Certificate.
  • As a fist step PCC form needs to be submitted in embassy.passport.gov.in. The submitted application need to be submitted again with BLS along with required documents
  • you can either Walk-in or mail the documents for submission. Walk-in is better since it saves more time than Postal application. And it seems they introduced appointment system for walk-in.
  • BLS takes sometime to process and add that in the system. After that, the application can be tracked in BLS website and embassy.passport.gov.in
    • BLS -> Consulate and Consulate -> BLS, can be tracked in BLS website
    • Consulate -> SP office in India -> Local police station -> Sp office in India -> Consulate, can be tracked in embassy.passport.gov.in
One more eligibility which they didnt mention in the documentation is that you need a lot of PATIENCE. All the best! Hopefully, your application goes smooth!
Thanks so much buddy..this was extremely helpful!!

Today morning, Got the email from passportindia.gov.in with the subject as "Initiation of Police Verification Request(s)"
Has there been any progress since then with your application?

My mother was contacted by the police last Friday and she gave them copies of my passport, husband's passport, my PR card and my marriage certificate. Police assured they would send the verification immediately. No change on my status so far.

Hi
Could I use a PCC that was obtained from India directly by my parents on my behalf or do I have to go through the entire process with BLS again?

Thank you for your help!

All police certificate clearances for any country have to be obtained from your country of residence/domicile. If your country of residence is Canada, you must obtain it in Canada via the Indian Consulate here (and since they are closed to walk-ins, you need to apply through BLS). if you are a resident of India, you must obtain the PCC for India from India.

I don't have the answer, since I haven't reached that stage. But question for you - has your status changed to police verification completed?

Hopefully, you'll get it in a week or two

My parents visited the police station yesterday. They replied that they have NOT yet received :-( and they will contact at once its received. And my wife's application was verified by police on Monday. So far, there are no updates in the status of both applications in website.
