Hello @legalfalcon I called IRCC & was told my background check in progress and eligibility not started before my file was sent to Accra, I thought background checks dont start until eligibility is passed? do you know what they could mean by "not started" when background check is in progress? Can eligibility change to Not Started after it's passed? I have also seen 4 Ghost Updates.

The BGC refers to criminality and security. This is why the BGC status changes twice during the processing of the application. It may be very likely that criminality, info sharing is is in progress and eligibility is pending. The BGC will go to N/A and then once Eligibility is passed, the BGC will be in progress again.

BCG comprises of criminality and security. Criminality starts with R10 and security after eligibility is passed. As regards eligibility, see my previous post at #4,004

For Express Entry applicants Security screening starts after Eligibility has been passed by an officer, the order may differ at times for paper based applications. Info Sharing does not have such a dependency.

Same case with my application. I submitted by PR documents on 13th Jan 2021 and got AOR on the same day. Eligibility check and medical is showing as not progress as of now.... but background check is in progress...

Hi derkdsou, I applied for Canada study permit on 27th August and I got 7 ghost updates but nothing changed in my GC key account not even medical is updated so I want to know does these updates means anything

I assume the answer is "yes". Mine has disappeared/reappeared 2-3 times since the beginning of 2021, sometimes it was accompanied by ghost updates, sometimes not.

how did you know the exact dates of passing of your stages????
after how much time after biometrics your criminality is clear????

I applied through EE in December 2019. Status I have see is we will let you know when we start background check. Recent update was on 06/11/20 that medical exam is passed. For background check it saying it’s in process and we will message if we need more info. What stage my applications is into? Is it started that it’s taking longer time than usual.
