New to the forum so apologies if this question has been asked already many times ( couldn't find my answer when searching). Canadian here moving back to Canada with husband after living in UK for 15 years. Been together for 10 years and married for 3 here in the UK now with no dependants so assuming quite a straight forward application with no issues regarding evidencing most things.

Just one snag we're concerned about: applying to return with no jobs set up at this point of our journey (18 months out from moving), therefore not sure what to provide regarding the following statement on the checklist:

'If you are not working in Canada, provide other documentation that you can support the person you are sponsoring. This must include a detailed explanation of how you plan to support yourself and the sponsored person on a separate piece of paper'.

Seeking advice from any expats who have been in the same situation? We will be happily residing with my parents for a few months while settling into new jobs and before purchasing a home, but this is of course a year and a half away from this point and based on a successful PR application. We are very early in our savings but currently on track to return with a good sized deposit for a home 18 months from now( can't prove that though). I know there is no requirement for minimum income when sponsoring a spouse without dependents but not sure what to put for this evidence of how I will support? This must be a common situation for expats returning after living abroad and don't want to jeopardise the application by not supplying the sufficient evidence.

Any help would be much appreciated thanks!

I am in the exact same position.

We just showed evidence of savings, valuations for property we are selling and an understanding of how to look for jobs and how to (re)train as necessary in our fields. Have you thought about applying to university and associated student housing (provided you can afford this)?

Do you have family or friends that will temporarily house you on return and will write a letter to that effect? That may help. We weren't able to do that, as we will too far from any family.

If you don't think you have sufficient financial evidence, I might consider waiting 6 more months, but that's jus my personal opinion.

What's your professional backgrounds? What do you know about your fields in a Canadian context? Where are you from in Canada? Do you have support there? It's having a plausible plan with evidence.
