Previous Applications

I am trying to fill out form IMM 1294, Application for Study Made Outside of Canada.

On the form there is the question "Have you previously applied to enter or remain in Canada?" Does an express entry profile count for that? My wife and I have a profile for permanent residence currently open, but we've never been given an invitation to apply. Do I say yes or no to this question?
