Timeline was extremely short. It seems to be country dependant and he is from Serbia. Applied feb 8, gave biometrics feb 17 got trv approval feb 23.

Authorization can take weeks. Assume he can prove that his travel is essential.Approved for a TRV. Country is Serbia. They have a very short turnaround time 34 days on website. We applied for both TRV and authorization at the same time as per instructions on the website.
Thanks. Sorry I was not more clear. I did search the forum but did not find a similar case to ours. Hoping someone has insight. I realize authorization review and approval or rejection can take a long time, however I am not sure how it will be communicated. Follow the instructions for How to apply for a visitor visa. We’ll assess your reasons for travel and make a decision on your visitor visa and your written authorization at the same time.
Remember to submit evidence to show you’re eligible to travel at this time.
However, it would seem he has gotten the visa part approved and was sent a passport request letter, but no Authorization letter as of yet. We plan on waiting to see if it comes at some point and will continue with the passport submittal. I am just curious if it will come eventually, or if I will need to submit an email request after the visa is stamped. It seems to contradict what they said above.

Which proofs you attached for your relationship?I am asking as my finacee has a valid visitor visa and i want to meet me here. he also visited me in Sept 2019.my bf applied for a visa to reunite with me and got approved feb 19. We followed the rules and applied for the authorization and visa at the same time as the website mentioned they will make the decision at the same time if you didn't already have a visa and to apply for both via usual process, ie no need to email. We uploaded the authorization form notorized under proof of relationship. However, we did not receive an answer about the authorization yet. We just got a passport request and that the application is approved. Does anyone know what the process is if you apply for both a trv and authorization at the same time? Any clarity or advice is appreciated.

If your relationship is with a Canadian citizen, person registered under Canada’s Indian Act or permanent resident
You must be
- in an exclusive dating relationship, have been in the relationship for at least 1 year and have spent time in the physical presence of that person at some point during the relationship
Step 1: Your family member downloads and fills out the application for authorization and statutory declaration form
The person who is the Canadian citizen, person registered under Canada’s Indian Act or permanent resident, must download and fill out this form:
Step 2: You sign the declaration
Your family member in Canada sends you the filled out application for authorization and statutory declaration (IMM 0006) for you to sign.
After you sign the form, you send it back to your family member in Canada. You can print the form and sign it or sign it electronically.
Step 3: Your family member signs the form by solemn declaration
Once you’ve sent the form back to your family member in Canada, they must sign the form by solemn declaration.
This is done in front of any Canadian official who is legally authorized to receive a solemn declaration, such as a
- commissioner for oaths
- justice of the peace
- lawyer or
- notary public

My bf didn't have the visa so I followed a different process. Notarized form sent as proof of relationship, but they asked for more evidence ie pictures trips etc. It's all individual and depends on your situation and what they ask for. They do not want to see the word visiting my fiance or anything like that. The reason must be essential, like reuniting with my fiance. If you put anything that suggests you are just coming to visit during this time, or even use the words visit, you will likely get rejected. Good luck!

You need to wait. IRCC specifically states that multiple requests should not be submitted. Submitting a second request may slow down processing and create more delays.Hi everyone..

Some people are receiving answers quickly. Within a week or a few short weeks.How long is IRCC taking to respond back to the requested written authorization for traveling?

Generally speaking, it seems IRCC is prioritizing those who have immediate family members in Canada. Those with extended family members tend to wait longer.
