Urgent Processing - Citizenship Application (Lets meet here )

Hello guys, I need your insights.

Last year October, I applied for a federal government job, wrote the exam and passed. A few weeks after, I received an email from the Recruiting Analyst who told me my application was “Concluded for Basic Requirements” (I didn’t meet the residency requirement) so I couldn’t move on to the next stage of the process.

I submitted my citizenship application on January 8 this year, requested urgent processing a couple weeks after (because I would like to continue in the process once I get my citizenship). Today I received correspondence from IRCC that my citizenship application is not yet in the system, so I’m guessing I just have to wait to get my AOR first.

My question now is, when resubmitting my UP request after I get my AOR. Should I include a snapshot of my last year’s application form from the Government of Canada website? Should I also attach the email sent to me by the analyst saying my application was “concluded/closed” because I wasn’t a citizen and/or haven’t had my PR for a certain period of time?

The reason I’m skeptical about including the email is because it pretty much says my application is closed for residency requirements and “Good luck on your future endeavours”. Now, once I get my citizenship I simply just resubmit the application form, my exam results are still valid, so I would get bumped to the next stage automatically because they have my file, information and test results.

The analyst called me after saying I could continue in the process when I get my citizenship/or have had my PR for a period of time, but his email didn’t say this so I’m not sure if IRCC would consider it because that (and snapshot of my application form) are my only proof for requesting UP.

Sorry for the long post, just trying to see if I have a good case to request urgent processing. Thank you!
IRCC will consider your UP request. Submit all required documents using webform.
They will definitely consider your request. And also provide a letter saying that your experience account from public sector background and already you missed one opportunity

Thank you very much for your response. I don’t quite understand what you meant by “...saying that your experience account from public sector background”, could you please expatiate?

Also, does it matter if I detail my explanations/reasons for UP in the box provided or I have to write it in MS word and attach it as a letter?

You can submit supporting documents as long as they are within the size limit.
Try to compress the documents if you have more

Regarding "that your experience account from public sector background" if you already have experience working on Public sector projects you can state in the summary.
Otherwise provide the emails from the first interview you got shortlisted but doesn't meet residency requirements

All the best

Thank you very much. I will do all that once my application is in the system (when I get my AOR), I’ll keep the thread updated :)

I think you do have a good case. I provided past and current employment for a federal government job (as a casual) and explained I'll not be able to get a permanent job until I'm a citizen. I attached a letter from my boss that I'd be a valuable permanent addition. It got accepted.
Why didn't you attach the request for urgency with your application though? Maybe consider resending it with that request attached? Waiting for AOR adds 2ish months. Also they may wonder why you didn't request it immediately while the reason for urgency was already there.

Thank you for this. The reason I didn’t submit it with my initial application is because I applied online and I couldn’t find where to attach the urgency request. Plus I thought since it was an online application, I could easily just send a webform and they’d be able to pull up my application and link it directly - but I thought wrong haha.

I considered resending the application, but I don’t want to send duplicate applications. And also, based on current trend it takes about < 60 days to receive AOR - I’m on day 32, so I’m thinking I should just wait it out another 3 weeks.

Yes if you have a valid reason and IRCC accepts it then you definitely jump the very long queues of 2+ years wait. Update us when your UP request is approved.

Ah right, yes I went through the same dilemma, but somehow kept failing the online submission so it was decided for me.

I see! Just spoke with IRCC, the lady said I could resubmit the application through paper with the urgency request, or since I’m already over one month in, I could just wait another few weeks to get the AOR then submit another webform requesting urgent processing. She mentioned that whichever one they get to first is what they’ll process and they would cancel the other.

I’m deciding to wait it out, it’s an unnecessary stress to start filling out another paper application and mailing it out. What if they get to my paper application first, cancel my online application, and then they don’t accept my UP request? Then they would have to process it normally with a possibly longer processing time compared to online “processing time”. Such a dilemma indeed haha!
