I've been approved for a PR, got DM and PPR beginning of Dec 2020 - it was sent in to London UK, but my application is being proccessed in Canada (mississauga)

My Medical is running out in end of march, and according to our lawyer extending it here in Covid times could have complications. We cant get a hold of Immigration to get a status, London UK is closed for phone calls and they dont reply to emails.

Our immigration lawyer is urging us just to travel to Canada ( i can enter with my wife and daughter without issues) and simply wait for the COPR if we dont get it by the time we leave.

It has us super desperate tbh and no one can tell us anything. We have to give notice in a few days if we are going to leave in march, so should we just go?

Has anyone recieved anything from VPU - London, UK in the last while, and do they send it by currier or snailmail ?

I cant help with the London issue but I would make your plans to depart and be ready to go to Canada. Set a date, before March. Also raise a webform.

If it arrives before you do, fine.

If it doesn't, I think the possibilities are:
-at border they look you up and do the landing formalities,ie they see in the system the COPR is done. This has happened to people here a few times. Not frequent but it has happened.
-if not you advise address change as soon as possible. Then they do a virtual landing as they do for other outland applicants (may take a while).
-Or you end up not knowing what to do and it takes a while to work out. But at least you're together.

Just an opinion.

Hi, thank you so much for your answer, means a lot and makes a lot of sense!

Yes, thank you!
Note some important things - since you have a lawyer hope he/she will help make sure all in order and you know what to do.

-ETA - if you don't have you will need to board.
-Board the flight - also need marriage certificate etc.
-Covid stuff: probably the most important, test now required, isolation, etc.
-Until the landing done you won't have right to work etc.
-Health care.

I'm sure there's something i've not thought of.

Thank you very much, makes a lot of sence, we can buy health care here for 6 months, we have a place to stay where we can isolate and so on, so all should be in order.

But im still boggled over the fact that no where does it say who or how i will recieve my COPR ?

LIke will it come by snailmail - untracked?
Fedex
DHL
UPS

?

Its insane to me that no one can tell me or its not stated anywhere.

IMO pack your bags and go. The paperwork will catch up with you later if not before you leave.

Update:

So recieved my COPR this morning, which was great, joy was relatively short lived, since our landing date is 23/02/21 -in 18 days, 6+weeks before my medical expires.

So quitting my job, shutting down 2 companies, packing our house, cats, kids, cancelling daycare and kindergarden and god knows what else.

Seems insane to give this short of a window and no one to call and no way to extend.

So to anyone reading this, when you get PPR your medical date wont really matter it seems. 2.5 months after your PPR that will be your landing date.

Weird, first time I've heard of a COPR validity date being earlier than the one-year-from-medical date - certainly earlier than the medical clearance date.

But note, I strongly doubt the 2.5 months after PPR is a rule - although I don't have an explanation for the date used.

A question: did your PPR specify the date that the COPR would be valid to? Our PPR letter specified in the very first paragraph that "Your visas will be valid to [Month dd, yyyy." (Which was exaclty one year from medical clearance.)

All it says is COPR issued 28/12/20 mailed to us 22/01/21 (why that took a month i dont know) - after the issue date on the COPR it says the expiration date. Then in big fat letters "YOU MUST BE IN CANADA ON OR BEFORE 23/02/21 - THIS DATE CAN NOT BE EXTENDED OR CHANGED"

Super :)

I mean did it specify this date in the passport request letter? Before you sent your passport.

By the way our copr docs said the same thing that it could not be changed - and then I wrote afterwards and they issued us a new one with an extra year validity.

I can send a link later to a thread about this. But I can't say for sure that they will do this going forward.
