Indian Passport Renewal from BLS Toronto

I don't want to mislead--> Please submit what they mention in the BLS checklist (province issued id with address, utility bill).
Bank and credit card, mobile statements are,in general,not accepted by BLS.

If you have issues with submitting local address proof, write to HCI Ottawa (cons.ottawa@mea.gov.in) explaining the situation and see what they say.

I did and got below reply from HCI:
You can retain the existing Address, for 'address to be printed' on the new Passport. You need not to submit any address proof for that.
For other address you can submit your Montreal address. for this you need to submit any of the prescribed address proof.
In case proper address proof is not available and you can submit your application for renewal of Passport, with the available proof of address viz., bank statements, lease paper, etc.
It may happen due to unavailability of proper address proof, you may get a Short Validity Passport (valid for 1-2 years only)."

BLS accepted bank statement but asked for the printout of the HCI email.
I also submitted a covering letter explaining this.

Whether you want to risk getting a 1/2 year passport by submitting bank st is entirely up to you, depending on your situation.

For those, who were asking what is the processing time for TATKAL and Normal Passport for Toronto Jurisdiction.

PROCESSING TIME:

Normal Passport	4 weeks
TATKAL Passport	5 business days

I'm a Permanent Resident of Canada and needed to renew my passport.

I am seeking for your help for passport renewal at Brampton Location. It would be greatly appreciated, if any useful information will be provided on this thread.

Scenario:

I've already sent an application on 09/01/2021 (Jan. 9th, 2021). Following is my current Status. Its been like this since 9th.

Application Reference Number	xxxxxxxxxxx
Date Of Birth	xx/xx/xxxx
Applicant Name	xxxx xxxxxx xxxxxx
Status	Passport application form has been submitted.

My questions are :

1. Is it normal ?
2. Do I need to wait for the status to be changed to something ?
3. Should I ignore the status and directly go to the Brampton location and submit my file ?
4. Are walk in open ? Did anybody recently go this location ?
5. Would anybody help me to provide required documents for Passport Renewal which they have brought or submitted by postal services?

If I follow this, https://www.cgitoronto.gov.in/page/general-info-passport/, it is asking for Landing Paper to be submitted with the file too. Is it required or PR card should be enough to provide them proof.

Please help me out, if you have recently done it or have any idea about it.

After 3 days of continuous calling and mailing, today got connected to BLS helpline. They said they will accept letters from CRA as address proof.

Ok, that's good-hope you received that in an email from BLS to avoid any further delays or issues later.

My uncle passport is issued in 1975. . He applied to surrender it now BLS send email to submit handwritten application. Anyone has idea what that means .

Not really, They told me that over a call. But he said that is acceptable proof. Anyway will try with this now.

Hi everyone,

I did a walk-in passport renewal submission to HCI Ottawa through BLS Montreal on 22nd Dec.
Status until 8th Jan: Processing at High Commission
Status on 8th Jan: File number got generated, status changed to 'Passport application under review'

But, I haven't received an email for police verification until today (12th Jan).
Is this normal-is there usually some number of days b/w file number generation and receiving police verification email?

Or, do I have to be concerned and email HCI to check on this?

Had emailed HCI this Monday-18th Jan to ask about the non-receipt of PV email.

No change until 20th Jan. Now, I've been seeing a series of odd statuses-don't know which one is correct

20-Jan-> Print has been initiated
Same day, 10:20pm, got police verification email (but, no change in address --to be printed on passport)
21-Jan->

Passport is printed and will be delivered shortly.

So, I have no idea whether police verification will still be done and whether above 'printed' status is true.
Do they skip police verification if there is no address change? Any idea?
I am unsure if they just issued 1 or 2Y passport as I submitted Canada bank st. for current proof here despite submitting HCI's own email reply too.

All the while ,BLS tracking status is still 'Processing at HC'.

I am gonna send my documents by end of this week to BLS Brampton. I called BLS yesterday for some general questions, Asked about walk-in reopenings and the agent said he don't know about it as of now. While on the call itself he forwarded me the payment links for courier pick-up & drop-off (Purolator).
-Regarding (COPR) landing document, Yes! it's mandatory if your PR card doesn't specify the immigration category. (Issued after 2015 if I am not wrong)

Hi quick question. Did you submitted personal particular form for passport renewal. I heard that it’s not required anymore for renewal.
