New Visitor Visa from Canada

Hello Seniors,

Looking for some guidance on my situation. Sorry for the new post, I had posted earlier but not much response. If someone could please shed some light I would greatly appreciate it.
  • My mothers passport expired and she held SuperVisa valid in her old passport.
  • We applied for a renewed passport and received a renewed passport.
  • She is currently with me in Canada, we had applied for an extension of the visitor record and we got this based on the validity of the old passport.
She can be here until Feb 2021. However, if she leaves the country her Supervisa has expired. Is she allowed to re-enter?
  • I was planing to apply for a regular multiple entry visitor visa from within Canada with her new passport
    • When, I fill up the online questionnaire to apply for a new Visit Visa, it forces me to upload form:
      • IMM 5708 - this is the form to extend the stay in Canada. It doesn't allow me to do anything but request for an extension to remain in Canada.
        • This is not good for me, as I want to apply for a NEW visitor visa on her new passport to re-enter Canada
        • The other option is to mail the application package to IRCC, but it requires placing her passports within. I do not want to take this chance, as I would like to have her passport with her incase she needs to leave Canada. With the current delays with COVID-19, it might take weeks until we are even assigned an application number --- in the event we need to request a return of passports.
      • IMM 5257 - this is form to apply for a New Visitor Visa, but the online application tool DOES NOT allow me to upload this. There is no place-holder for it. When, I upload it in the space of IMM 5708, the upload validation fails. It only allows me to upload IMM 5708.
  • Is she allowed to leave the country and re-enter based on just the extension of Visitor Record, even though her Supervisa is expired? I would apply for another extension and ask for a longer time - but I am not sure, if they would allow re-entry into Canada?
Will appreciate any other feedback, thoughts, comments.

I am concerned on her applying for a new Visitor Visa after leaving the country, as I have read processing can take upto 280 days if outside of Canada due to the current COVID-19 delays. That would be a very long time until she could come back to us.

Thank you!

She cannot re-enter Canada based on an extension. The extension is only valid as long as she remains in Canada.

She needs to have a valid visa (TRV or super visa) to be allowed to re-enter Canada.

Thanks for your feedback. Would be aware on how I can apply for a new visa from Canada? The online process only allows me to request for an extension and not a new Visitor Visa or SuperVisa.

I am in a similar situation, but for my daughter. I just want to know did you apply for your mother under your own profile, or did you apply for a separate profile for her. Searching the internet, it seems its possible but its also a bit vague.
