Seems that they can conduct the tests for lot of people as they are not planning to directly monitor the test but thinking that will review the photos taken during the test.

"Online testing allows clients to complete the test at a time convenient to them, within 21 days. "

So technically, IRCC might have completed oaths for most of already test taken people, around 2000-3000 per week.

With this new online test, the pool of oath ready people will increase again because the test can be taken any time without any supervision.

So with this rate, if IRCC steps up the number of oaths to 4K-5K/week, then the wheel is back to normal speed in no time, but of course, it will take a while to clear the backlog even with pre-covid speed.

I wish, if IRCC could put full throttle on number of oaths, and make it 7K-8K/week, then this backlog will melt in no time.

Let's wait and watch.

I'm afraid that's not how a manager's (or politician's in our case) brain works. Why add thousands of extra resources (and where to take them from) to get rid of a backlog within weeks when you can add 3-5% of your regular salaried workforce and keep working on the backlog in the next ~3 years? Why? More budget to IRCC. No need for temporary potentially outsourced people who work with sensitive personal info. No need to rush now, but instead make sure your office is happily busy after the pandemic and potentially until you (as the head of it) retire... That is a more realistic scenario to me

So, passport is not required at the time of taking test? Just PR card and Driver's license?
And what's the time gap between the Test and Oath ceremony going to look like? Are they going to do online oath ceremonies too?

Months (as it states on IRCC website) to vet the results plus months to get an interview plus months to ceremony. So give or take we are talking... Months X 3

Do you have a link for months long wait?

Ah interesting. One would think that online test results would be instantaneous and if not then take a couple of days to verify

They are indeed, but the catch is that they are not official. I don't blame them for taking the time to vet at least in the pilot stage, but the bottom line is that it is not making the applicant's life any easier. Same months of wait, same anxiousness. Same old... you know...

They are just being pedantic. The results are not official contingent on them verifying the integrity of your test.

If you did not cheat, you have nothing to worry about; the score you receive after submitting is your true score.

On a separate note, after reading everything, I expected a lot worse from IRCC. Definitely surpassed my expectations here. Sadly the interview aspect is still an issue. It seems that they will schedule us for an interview - could that mean they’re planning on doing this online as well?
An online interview system would surely make backlog disappear. Fingers crossed that’s the case!

Best case that is one thing with the Oath, worst thing that is a separate step. As I was saying that is wagging the dog. You asked for tests? You get them. Not the citizenship

You get what you ask for. I do think that cancelling the Saturday event makes sense. But in the long run it gives us understanding of what to ask for...

After reading it, I believe the interview is optional as they said "we may contact you for the interview". If they don't you will be moved directly to the ceremony.

I'm 100% sure if the wording was there to start with. So unless you are a high-marked individual wanting to buy a passport of convenience you're up for an interview. That's just me thinking. Hope the corruption is not that high up (right, Marco?).
