Applied for a student permit at 35 - for a diploma course that is completely unrelated to anything I have learned in my life. Got approved without any issues. This happened back in 2019. Don't know if things have changed now. I was already in the country on a temporary visa before I applied for the student permit.

My spouse got a closed work permit. I accompanied my spouse and was granted a temporary resident / visitor visa. After a few months, I applied for the study permit. And I was approved.
